I figured since I could rarely keep up with my squad who was spread all over the map, I'd concentrate on spotting (more than usual) and in the instances where I was close to a few dudes in my squad, I would lay down as much suppression as possible. I even got quite a few points for supression kills/assist (which was an awesome feeling lol).
I'm sure it'll get better as I get attachments/guns etc.
