What I noticed: it gave fans of non-powers a new ploy to denigrate the success and tradition of the blue bloods. It allowed MU and Maryland and Rutgers etc fans to say: "Ha ha KU/Duke/UCONN! Basketball doesn't even matter, see?"
By believing re-alignment was about football games and games only, they believed football held infinite more value than basketball did among the public. And no matter how you tried to explain it was about the
SPLIT of the cash flows and not the cash flow itself, they clung to their new baby. Like a newborn's mother clings to her infant.
