Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the San Diego Chargers, according to sources inside and outside the team, will initiate a flurry of contract "activity" in the next month and that talks will continue through the season with numerous players who are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents in the next three years. As of now, QB Philip Rivers, OT Marcus McNeill, LB Shawne "roidman" Merriman, DL Luis A. Castillo and WR Vincent Jackson will be free to sign with other teams following the 2009 campaign, while TE Antonio Gates and CB Antonio Cromartie are set to be unrestricted after 2010.
