You don't have to give up anything to find a guy who can throw for 3500 yards and 20 TDs. Hell, Jason Campbell's done that. You don't give up multiple 2nds for a guy you expect to ride the running game and defense to wins. At least I hope this front office doesn't (still) think that way. Although I suspect in the end that's exactly what they've done, whether it was their intention or not.

I disagree Keg with your thought that a guy has to pass for 4000 yrds to get value from 2 2nds. I do see what you are trying to say though. My point would be if Smith does play winning football and increases the Chiefs win total by a large margin, then he was worth every draft pick they gave. I really could care less how he gets it done. So what if he throws 20tds. He gets the credit if they win, and the criticism if they lose. Its the nature of the NFL. Even in what some people call a passing league most teams prefer balance. Green Bays success the year they won the superbowl was because they got their running game together in the playoffs. This whole thought of 300yrd games 4000 yrd seasons is a ridiculous measure. If he is clutch when it matters who cares about the stats.
