Yeah, it's almost a carbon-copy of WoW in a lot of game-mechanic ways, but I really like it nonetheless. Set in Tolkien's universe, obviously, and I can't really think of anything that I don't like about the game. The playerbase (as much as I've interacted with it, which isn't a whole lot) seems more mature and friendly, the storyline runs along with events from the books which is cool, the crafting system is a lot of fun (and I've always hated crafting in the past - all 5 of my toons craft) and, although I haven't tried them all (oh, wait, there's my 1 gripe, you can only have 5 toons/server and there's 7 classes, so you can't play everything on one server) I've enjoyed every single class I've played, from the spell-casting/pet-loving Lore-Master to the healing Minstrel to the melee lawnmower Champion to the Guardian tank to the bow-wielding (but no pet, unlike the WoW iteration) Hunter. I've played them all up to level 15, and most of them to 20 (current level cap is 50) so I think I have a pretty cool feel. I haven't, however, been able to try burglar or captain, the other two classes.

There's a monthly fee, which, for this game, at least, I have no problem at all with since they provide free updates regularly (completely new content, not just bugfixes). They just announced their first large-scale expansion for the fall, which will add the Mines of Moria, two new classes (warden and rune-master) and up the level cap to 60. The games just under a year old now, which, in my experience, is a pretty good time to start an MMO. They've had a year to work out all the glitches, and by the time I finish seeing all the release/update content, the expansion will be hitting (that's assuming I'm even through all the original content by this fall, which I may well not be). I've been playing for 6-7 weeks now, and, although a lot of it has to do with my playstyle (I'm leveling 5 characters simultaneously, instead of one 'main') I'm barely out of the starting areas of the Shire (hobbits...), Ered Luin (elves and dwarves) and Bree-land (men).

Anywho, if you can't tell, I really dig it.
