I had a Nissan Maxima with a similar problem. The problem was associated with the ABS system. At slow speeds, when applying the brake the ABS system would kick in because the speed sensor thought the brakes were locking up....dirt on the lense of the sensor, I guess. Maxima problem and design issue but zero recalls. The friendly people as Nissan would fix the problem for 4000 bucks. Anyway the cleaning the sensor lense would help the issue but would not eliminate it. If it goes on a long time, you will screw up other components that you don't want to replace. At least not in this lifetime.
