Statistically, keeping Myers (assuming he plays at even an average level) is more valuable. If DM wants to make incredibly stupid ancillary decisions, well, he'd be staying consistent to his approach as GM.

The guy is dumb as all ****. Solid amateur scouting director. Terrible GM.
