With the NFL Scouting Combine just days away in Indianapolis, this week’s prognostications still have the Chiefs taking Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel, and not a signal-caller, with the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The following survey of 12 draft projections includes seven “votes” for Joeckel and five for West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. For now, Utah defensive lineman Star Lotulelei gets at least one nod (though it’s not reflected here, The Star’s Adam Teicher tabbed Lotulelei No. 1 overall in his latest top 10 list, which he posted on Monday at KansasCity.com/Sports).

The Combine starts Thursday and runs through the weekend in Indy. This snapshot will continue to change in the days leading up to the April 25-27 draft, so we’ll continue to track the mood of the pundits each week.

The Chiefs haven’t drafted a quarterback in the first round since taking Penn State’s Todd Blackledge No. 7 overall in 1983.

Luke Joeckel, T, Texas A&M — Rob Rang, CBSSports.com [Smith #8 to Bills]

Joeckel — Charles Davis, NFL.com [Smith #7 to Cards]

Joeckel — Gil Brandt, NFL.com [Smith #3 to Raiders]

Joeckel — Mel Kiper, ESPN [no QB in first round]

Joeckel — Drafttek [Smith #7 to Cards]

Joeckel — Don Banks, SI.com [Smith not in 1st round]

Joeckel — Peter Schrager, FoxSports.com [Smith #8 to Bills]

Geno Smith, QB, WVU — Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Smith — Dane Brugler, CBSSports.com

Smith — Walter Football

Smith — Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com

Smith — Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News
those that didn't mock Smith to us all had 2 QBs in the top 10, except for Kiper and Banks
