The story of the game: it all starts out horribly, with a pick six on Montana's first pass. The Chiefs fall behind 14-3. From there the SF pass rush starts dominating, and a fumble after a huge punt return dooms another scoring opportunity.
The Chiefs defense is doing everything to hold the Niners back, but Joe misses badly on a third down while getting hit, and another pick results in a Keenan McCardell TD and a 21-3 lead. As if that wasn't enough Deion Sanders breaks himself on a kickoff return. OH SHIT.
The game is looking dire. Then on 3rd and 1 on the ensuing Chiefs possession with 2 minutes to go, HERSCHEL WALKER, hero of the AFC Championship, rips off a 60-yard TD run and it's a game again.
The 49ers don't do anything with the ball and the Chiefs get it back right before halftime. Then MONTANA comes alive and throws two beautiful arcing corner routes to Quinn Early and Troy Brown for A TOUCHDOWN and just like that it's 21-17.
The Chiefs get a field goal in the third quarter and then Steve Young decides he's had enough of this bullshit. He gets a drive going and finds Scott Galbraith, subbing for an injured Brent Jones, for a TD.
It's 28-20 49ers with 11 minutes left and then Glyn Milburn FUMBLES the ensuing kickoff. The defense holds San Francisco to a field goal again, but Montana needs two touchdowns in the last 8 minutes to win. He responds with a drive, but it ends in a horrible interception, his third of the game.
There are less than 5 minutes left, and the situation is dire. Then Derrick Thomas forces a fumble, giving the Chiefs the ball right back! Montana almost throws his fourth pick on a high ball in the end zone, but the DB doesn't get his feet down. The Chiefs cut it to 31-23 with 3:08 left.
The valiant Chiefs defense holds again, and Montana has one last chance to win his sixth Super Bowl with 2:36 left. After a few key passes get the ball into 49ers territory, Montana coolly audibles to a run AND HERSCHEL WALKER rips off a potential-game tying 30-yard TD run. EPIC.
The Chiefs offensive line holds just long enough for Brown to cross the field on the drag and Montana hits him for the tying 2-point conversion with 1:10 remaining. But have the Chiefs left too much time for Steve Young? He drives to midfield.
And then, well....you watched the video. Derrick Thomas...U DA REAL MVP.
Joe completes three short passes, on comes Chris Boniol for a 48-yarder and Steve Young gets CUCKED.
Montana is only 26 of 39 for 234 yards with 1 TD, 3 INT and a fumble, but still wins MVP. Derrick Thomas, who has 2 sacks, a FF and A FREAKING INTERCEPTION, gets robbed, as does Herschel Walker, who carries only 9 times for 117 yards and 2 TD.
