The Seattle Seahawks have acquired wide receiver Percy Harvin in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple reports, and the 49ers are looking for help in the secondary.
The 49ers are expected to make a run "at the right price" for Miami Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith, who is scheduled to hit the free-agent market on Tuesday, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.
The 49ers are expected to face competition from the Philadephia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Smith, a four-year veteran from Utah. Smith was a second-round draft pick in 2009.
The 49ers struggled in the postseason against big wide receivers, such as Atlanta's Julio Jones and Baltimore's Anquan Boldin, and Smith would provide the 49ers with tremendous size (6-foot-3, 214 pounds) on the outside.
Smith has started every game the past two seasons for the Dolphins and recorded four interceptions with 19 passes broken up during that time.
