I recall reading awhile back that people were getting their cars towed because they were parking a little too far out from the IHOP and were technically in the parking lot of the defunct KMart. Apparently they would swoop in and tow you the second you walked into the IHOP and then charge a jillion $ in tow and storage fees to get your car back. No one was even asking them to do this. But parking in the "Kmart" lot was technically "illegal" because they were parking in the lot of a "business" while it was not in open for business.

There are some lots in Florida that are free. But if you so much as touch any of the white lines around your parking space they will tow you as soon as you get out of sight of your car.
Pure scum.
