Should/Could Brodie Croyle start this year???

Should-No not yet at least I dont think he is ready yet. He is phenomenal and will be a great addition tot eh organization, but I don't think he is ready yet.

Could- Well probaly If trent goes to Miami, Houston, or wherever he chooses he would become the number 1 man in KC but, if he stays in KC he will have to compete for the top spot.

So that is what i think should/could happen with Brodie Croyle

Actually, I think Herm is leaning toward either Huard or Croyle, Mr. kdog414141. Huard, because its a CYA decision for Herm based on Downfield Damon's performance last year. Croyle, because he is "da future".

As far as Herm's statement in the presser, I have come to the conclusion that Herm is a pathological liar and should seek treatment.

Either way, it's arguable that, if the Herm/Carl team of Morons on Parade wanted Trent, they would have made a commitment to him by now and not given Huard the contract they did.

I agree.

Milkman put it best in another thread, but it's Carl's fear of losing season ticket holders as to why he doesn't want to play a young QB.

It's like wanting to keep that scratched DVD that you love so much. Sure it might play once in awhile, but it skips more often than not, so the only solution is to go out and buy a new one, not trying to keep cleaning it or some other stop-gap measure by delaying the inevitable.

If Brodie starts in 2007, unless he ends up being a Grenkie-esque head case who breaks down in tears in the middle of a game, I really can't see Carl and Herm drafting a QB first in 2008 no matter what pick in the draft we have. Once he's the starter, it's Croyle's job for at least 2 or 3 years. They aren't going to bail on him after one season.

That's why they aren't declaring the starter right now. Not just because he hasn't earned it, but fear.

But there is a big part that believes these two statements more.

what happens next year (or the year after) when huard retires and croyle still hasn't taken a snap, or enough to know what we have. Then we will be debating if we should draft a QB high next year or bring a FA in, (like harriman or garcia this year)

we are in a corner, unless he craps on himself with the pressure, let him start, make some mistakes and improve or bust out.

I believe Huard is a stop-gap QB. Does anyone honestly believe we'll go to the Super Bowl with him at QB? Seriously?

I have a feeling Croyle will be the guy on opening day because so.

I disagree with part of this. Huard has not had ample opportunity to show what his moxie is. What he showed most recently is that there is not a team on the planet that could beat us when he was on. Yeah we dumbed down the offense, yeah he can't do some of the things Trent can do, but we won games and that is all that counts.

I agree that Croyle needs to start if he is really our QB of the future, the future is here. Particularly if this is a rebuilding year as many have stated. However, if we reload and fill the holes that are lacking and think we can compete this year much like we have in the recent past, then we should go with the guy who has proven he can get it done with what we've got.

Huard is 34 years old ........ just how much are you expecting him to show? and what is it worth even if he does show it?

1 year, 2 tops. Honestly, I care about nothing but 1 superbowl. Maybe Huard has no shot at getting us there, I'm just not ready to label a guy that plays lights out for us and gets us into the playoffs as unable. I think that if Green is gone he gives us the best chance now, if Green is here he may still give us the best shot now. Depends on how Trent comes back next year after some time off. I DON'T think Croyle gives us any chance at all. Not this year. If we are giving this year up, then start Croyle immediately. If we think we can compete though, Croyle isn't the solution for us.
