I have to agree. I really thought that the Chargers would finally earn Marty the ring I thought he always deserved. Especially when he had a better team than the Broncos in the '86 and '87 seasons.

It's strange to me that we can say that Barry Sanders was great, but he never got the ring. Dan Marino was great but he never got the ring.

Know what? Marty was a great coach, but he never got the ring.

FAX, I never thought of that before, about his impact on depression era people. My grandparents were both of that time, I guess that explains why a circus clown was a familiar figure to them. Interesting.

Meh, I was just watching the 2003 NFL Special and saw some stuff about the Chiefs that season.

Just trying to spark up some kind of conversation.

I've always believed that a great deal of his popularity stemmed in large measure from the hobo routine, Mr. RJ. Of course he was very talented, but he was able to connect with all the folks who were standing in the bread lines and looking for day labor jobs. He had the ability to translate their difficulties into laughter. No easy task. A little like Chaplin's "little tramp" character, perhaps. You were very fortunate to see him perform.

The offenses were of similar caliber but SD was a more complete team. While overrated, their defense showed up a lot more often.

Head-to-head, the '03 Chiefs would put a lot on that SD defense, but equally the the Chargers would score at will on KC. Outside of a couple of turnovers, KC wouldn't be able to stop LT or Gates at all.

Not even close. The 06 Chargers were much better than the 03 Chiefs.

I picked the Chiefs because I sat down and wrote out their rosters side by side and looked at them and saw that one had a bunch of Chiefs on it and the other one didn't.

They were about the same teams. Rb's in their prime, and choking early in the playoffs, but one of those teams had a defense, its the same team that didn't have Ryan Sims, and Burnfield on their roster.
