this company (Konarka.com) essentially has found a way to make solar panels that are about the thickness of a piece of paper, are somewhat transparent, and can bend, therefore conforming to untold surfaces. Could cars, ell phones, homes, and everything else eventually have this coating them? Pretty cool stuff. I wonder what the 8 watt little guy they sell costs. I could recharge my four wheeler for free with it.

I once met some folks that were looking at relocating to Topeka to use the byproduct from Innovia Films to make a deal that created electricity when flexed. They envisioned using it in athletic and prostethic devices to generate electricity during movement and use.

was a pretty cool deal. they had a piece of material about the size of a ruler, and when flexed back and forth it would light up a small bulb.

ultimately they didn't end up getting the tax incentives they wanted so they stayed in NJ.
