HAVE YOU FACED DEATH

Pr Capone's thread got me thinking.

How many have faced death or the possibility of dying.(by this I mean certain death without immediate medical attention)

1) Did it change your life

2) If it was due to risky behavior, do you still engage in said behavior.

3) Do you ever wish that you had died.

4) Did it change your beliefs (good question Laz, Yes I meant religious beliefs and or societal belief)

Curiously

Ang

Easier for me to quote a previous thread on this. Has it changed me? Well I live life to the fullest now even with not being able to walk, actually I always have. So maybe the first instance did it. I still race my car and any kind of slope I let my chair free wheel. Things like that.

My daughter started catechism and I'm hoping it helps to get me back. After what's happened to me He's left me here for a reason.

They were scrapping when we showed up. My buddy (the driver) gets out and I'm in the back seat. As I'm getting out he falls back into me. The dude stabbed him in the jugular, died on the spot.

A bunch of us are yarding on a dead tree branch in a tree to make a fire at a park along Big Creek in Hays. It came down and smacked me square in the nose. My nose was down on my lip and it was a compound break, concussion.

Fast forward 14-15 years. We were building an addition on the Portland Airport Parking Structure setting a bunch of steel. I heard someone screaming it's coming down and looked up and seen the connectors running in mid air and the 4 stories of iron all coming down. It killed all 3 of the iron workers and landed up against the crane. I was the crane oiler and had just crawled out from underneath the rear of the crane where the iron landed.

At the coast riding in the sand dunes Turkey Day '03, my buddy sprays me with sand so I'm off chasing him. The wind was blowing and a storm was rolling in so my goggles were covered in sand. I followed him off a 40' widow's peak and my Banshee caught the back of his Polaris ripping the handlebars out of my hands causing me to face plant on the bike. I was wearing all my gear but broke my back shoving a piece of spine shaped like an arrowhead into my spinal cord, paralyzed from the waist down.

June of last year (06), 2 strokes and 5 days in a coma.

I've left out several other (minor) occurrences. I can hardly wait for what's next.

It was. I have been shot once, stabbed once, in a serious auto collision, and none of those incidents put the fear, so to speak, in me like that heart attack did. When they were loading me on the life-flight to Tulsa the doctors apparantly told my wife to prepare my kids that I probably would not survive the flight... then (my family) watched as the copter started up and came back down twice.. was told later I kept flatlining and the E.M.T.'S (God bless them) were trying to stabilize me for the flight.... and then they had to drive an hour to the hospital expecting to be told I died before they got there. Staying on topic the short answer is yes I have died and lived to tell about it. Thank you Jesus.

They said when I was sleeping that when my little brother would start talking to me that my heart rate would start escalating so they'd tell him to shut up, lol. When I woke I didn't know he, my sis & Mom were here from Tx.

On occasion I hear something, or is it the sound that reminds me of my comatose dayz. Surroundings are real loud and up close is normal. Hard to explain. Never seen any light or should I say remember it. Hell when I woke up I was surprised I couldn't wiggle my toes and swore to the Doctor that I could before.

Just a couple areas of my brain are dead, no really. I tell my wife everybody has those, they just don't realize it.
