At number 3 the Chiefs should take a QB...

However, Chiefs fans should not expect the same results as those delivered by Flacco and Ryan. I say that for mainly one reason. Both Flacco and Ryan finished their senior years at their respective schools. That level of maturity and leadership experience certainly helped them in their preparation for their rookie year in the NFL.

Both Stafford and Bradford will be underclassmen if they come out. They won't have the same level of maturity or leadership experience when they hit the NFL. I know they are both leaders, but in college being a senior in the lockerroom carries a lot weight and respect even if there is a talented QB in the lockerroom as well.

Take Mizzou for example. Last season Chase Daniel was a leader on the team, but THE leaders on the team were Pig Brown and Martin Rucker. Seniors carry the big stick in college.

I'm not sure what your point is. I'm not advocating keeping this coaching staff. I'm saying that because of the success of Ryan and Flacco and the success of the Falcons, Dolphins and Ravens the fans of the Chiefs will expect a playoff appearance next year. I'm saying because the top QBs in this draft are ALL underclassman and won't be ready to take a team to that success in their rookie year and the fans will whine and cry calling them a bust.

He has every physical tool you can want but when assessing NFL talents I think a player like Eric Berry might be a more desired prospect despite not having the meassurables.

Mays is not a Sean Taylor and thats really what you want when drafting a top 3. Now I wouldnt be upset with the pick but its a leap of faith (he is going to be very good but probably not great).
Taylor Mays does what he's asked to do...Taylor got to freelance. I'll take scheme discipline over freelancing.

Berry is a great talent but I'm not really sure what his NFL position is.

So you draft a LT, even though we drafted one last year, in the first round, and looks to be the real deal. Doesn't make much sense.

Overkill...if you want an example of what happens when you invest in everything but QB, I point you to the Vikings.

Why would we need to give up our #3 overall pick for Thigpen? Now that sounds ridiculous.

I just don't think Stafford will fall to Chiefs, I agree... he should play Sr.Year

we will likely be picking in bottom 10 again.

The Rams have a shit load of money wrapped into Bulger, and Detroit is the only team that could be a threat

I addressed the specific material in your post that I quoted.

Thats why Im saying that only QB and LT are value picks at #3 because of the players who we are speculating will enter the draft. If Calvin Johnson and Mario Williams was entering the draft I wouldnt be mentioning LT as it wouldnt be the best player. Im just saying the best 3 players in this draft are QBs and LTs.

Lets say pick 1 and 2 is QB. Then you have the best LT prospect since Robert Gallery next on your board. Can you really pass that up because we already filled that need? Then we're looking at picking up Mays who is next on the board that isnt a LT (who might be great but plays in a system where we are guessing based on his physical power) or a DE class who frankly hasnt impressed me at all. Or do you simply go to the 3rd QB regardless of where he is on your draft board?

It just feels like a reach to me. You stick with the board and you dont reach thats how you build franchises.
