Food Fight!
Since we're on the eve of Thanksgiving, I have a question for the CP:
Seems as if every person has at least one food that they just utterly love, but the majority of people turn their nose up at. What's yours? Here's mine: I love black licorice. It's my favorite candy. I like it even more than chocolate. I grew up on Switzer's Black Licorice from St. Louis. It came in a candy bar rectangular shaped cellophane package, and when it was fresh, it was heavenly. When it was stale, it was like chewing on black rubber insulation. I just found this stuff at my local Walgreen's: http://www.lucky-country.com/ This licorice is GREAT. Just as good, maybe better, than Switzer's. If you like black licorice, try some of this. It's unbelievably good. So, what's your stand on black licorice, and what is your personal favorite "weird food?" |

Love liverwurst sandwiches with a thick layer of Miracle Whip. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I always buy pickled herring at Christmas. I don't even know if it's in stores the rest of the year, never crosses my mind. One of my favorite seafood dishes is cerviche, and one of the best cerviches I ever had was made with octopus. Made for a great texture. |

My mom used to make what she called pineapple icebox cake. It isn't really cake but it is delicious. Put a layer of vanilla wafers in the bottom of a bowl, then a layer of pineapple rings, then a layer of Cool Whip then top with more vanilla wafers. You can make as many layers as you want. Store in the fridge overnight.

Black licorice rocks - look for Allsorts.
I'm not fond of snails/escargot - but I like the garlic butter that comes with. I eat a lot of sardines and herring and canned salmon (as salmon patties/croquettes). Not everyone can deal w/canned fish, but I really like the stuff. I put kippered herring in 'german' potato salad, it's like having extra bacon. Good omega-3's. I also like frog legs fried in butter w/garlic.
