Chiefs workout RB Chris Perry

Chris Perry-RB-Bengals Nov. 25 - 6:02 pm et

The Chiefs worked out free agent RB Chris Perry this week.
Back from the dead. Perry, the No. 26 overall pick in 2004, fell out of the league last offseason after a dreadful 2008 campaign that began with him starting at tailback for the Bengals. How far the Cincinnati running game has come. Perry was drafted by the UFL's Orlando Tuskers over the summer.

I was just thinking about this. I wish Jackie Battle was still around to handle our short yardage duties. He was good for those.

I'm a believer that every avenue should be explored, and i also believe in 2nd chances.

He is Zero risk. Anyone available should be brought in for a workout, it will not be a distraction of anything else, and if Don Pioli, R. Lee Haley think he can help, why not? I doubt they sign him though.

Rumor has it Pioli, in an unusual circumstance, had to wipe his butt with his left hand. It went wrong. Someone should start a thread for those needing something to bitch about.

And it's always nice to have a bulldozer to complement the quick guy. Thunder and lightning.

Nothing to lose here. And who knows, by a complete long shot, he could realize his potential in a new environment, as Benson did in Cincy. Remember that Benson only averaged 3.4 YPC before he was cut in Chicago.
I do want Charles in there is crucial 3rd and 1 situations.

We are getting better blocking on the line now that Goff is out, and Charles has shown that he has the ability to find that small seam.

Some of the best short yardage backs wer not power backs, they were guys that slid through those small seams.

See Marcus Allen and Priest.

But as far as Perry goes, I actually agree with you,
Can't hurt to take a look.

To say he fizzled out, would indicate there was a fire to begin with. He never got it lit in Chicago, and they are not very patient with skill position players.

If you aren't close to Walter Payton potential, pretty quick, they draft another high pick running back. Since I have been here: Salaam, Enis, Benson and Forte. Forte better pick it up, or they will give up on him.

I remember him as a disappointment in Cincy.

I'm all for Pioli performing due diligence on available players but what this really tells me is that Javarris Williams isn't even close to being activated.

Yeah, but don't you sense a little bit of "unwritten rule" not to push that envelope? I just sense that there is some kind of loose agreement, to keep hands off for the most part.

Something like black marks, for every time a team does it, in the owners fraternity?

I can see it now, Jerry Jones, telling Dan Snyder and all the others at the NFL meetings, sipping Martinis: "Little Clark here, keeps picking my practice squad apart. Whata you boys think of that?"

Other Owners: "We just won't ------------------- then."
