How much time do you spending cooking/grilling?

Just a spinoff of angelo's favorite meal thread. We have some pretty good chef's on CP and some grill masters also. I love to cook, but just dont have the drive to do it after coming home from work. For those of you who cook or grill frequently how much time does it take you to make a good meal? Im not talking about mac n cheese, or top ramen, im talking about a whole meal. There's a lot of prep time in making a good meal.

You'll want to start in the wok with the things that take the longest. Meat should be cooked in the wok, then taken out and tossed with everything once it's done.

For my concoction that doesn't have meat, I can pretty much do it all at once. Get the wok scorching hot, add the oil and everything else and start tossing. Once it really starts to stick to the wok, it's done.
good tips.
I might have to scout some woks

I think I'm going to use my wok tonight, it has been a couple of months since I've broken it out.

Keep in mind, the best woks are CHEAP. Don't get one that purports to be non-stick. The teflon coating that makes it nonstick WILL PEEL at the high heat you need to stir fry. Find a carbon steel wok, no frills, and dirt cheap. You'll use it like cast iron - oil it, cook with it, clean with hot water and a scrub (no soap). After a few uses, it'll start to turn black as it seasons. The more you use it, the better it seasons, and it will become nonstick.

You really shouldn't spend more than $20 on a wok.

If you have a Chinese grocer in your area, they probably have some. I'd start there.

I probably cook 5-7 times per week on my grill. I used to be a gas griller, then moved on to a traeger pellet grill, then to a Weber charcoal grill. Then just when i thought life couldn't be better i moved up to a Primo ceramic charcoal grill. Prep and cooking times vary for what we're doing, ranging from 30 minutes to 24 hours, but i consider it my hobby as well. Even this year's thanksgiving turkey was cooked on the grill.

Saturday meal at the lake house. First get out of bed and have a couple of screwdrivers. Drive down to the MEAT STORE. pick out some really thick Ribeye or T-bones rub a little bit of spices on them, either a pre bought rub or just some garlic and pepper then toss them back in the fridge. Build a roaring fire in the fire-pit out of Hickory logs . Burn fire most of the day and drink beer. Fill big-ol pot full of Shrimp and crab legs. Use leaf blower on fire if not hot enough. Have wife make salad and baked potatoes. Move big logs out of the way and put grill over the coals and cook the cow until medium rare. Open bottle of wine and feast. Total time 2-10 hours.
