Huge Kudos to Pioli and Haley

They wasted no time in getting who they wanted. This is a welcome change from the timing of last year's regime change. Hopefully, this a harbinger of more good things to come.

just speculation though.
It's very possible, although they seem to like Al Groh of Virginia (formerly).

It's hard to believe that a guy like Bowles who was interviewing for head coaching gigs last year wouldn't get a job as a DC somewhere.

BTW, and I know I'm inviting pain and punishment on myself, but I did take a stab at a mock draft this afternoon. Feel free to tear it apart.

The key to the true 34 2 gap, however you wanna phrase it, it the NT. Also could argue strongly about ILB play and Safety as well. But the NT is key to stopping the run which obviously leads to a really shitty record if you can't, which is the case with KC the last i don't know how many years.

Vince Wilfork in FA would be great but it's no sure thing he comes here or doesn't get tagged and traded like they did with cassel. Casey Hampton was a rumored cut last year so if the same comes true this year and he is cut that would be an option. But they don't cut him unless they have him replaced(which i don't know) or he isn't the same player from a health standpoint.

Cody from Alabama is a sloppy pig in the Alan branch or Gabe Watson mold. Speaking of both of those 2 look at AZ and they play alot of DE even with their NT size because they don't anchor that well as you would expect out of guys their size. Back to Cody, i just worry the guy will turn lazy or more so once he turns pro. I don't know enough about his character or work ethic.

Crennel was able to run that D with guys like Wilfork but also Keith Traylor and Ted Washington in the early '00's. I think they even signed Steve Martin(the mizzou DT) and played both fronts since they had McGinnest too who played DE and OLB.

That's why Dallas does well is because while Ratliff is undersized they slant and run more 1 gap. They may even move him to DE if they find a replacement for him at the nose.

So i hope we are agressive in getting players but also running a multi front and overall versitile D like they did early on.

Crennel NEVER spoke to the Giants.
It doesn't actually say that, it just says he never interviewed with coughlin.

So basically by not knee jerking, and trying to snatch up an OC, and DC in the limited amount of time he had before last season, Pioli ended up with the best possible Coordinators for our team, and probably the ones he wanted all along.

1 point for the anti-horsemen.

Yup. And its not like Pioli hasn't been in touch with them all along. I'm sure he's had conversations where Crennel has told him "I can't this year but next year..."

The Patriots switched to the 3-4 after the 2002 season where there defense got run over. they signed Ted Washington and he was fantastic in 2003. Then in 2004 they drafted Wilfork and signed Traylor because Ted went for the big bucks in free agency. Traylor played the bulk early on as Wilfork was groomed along. By the end of the season they were rotating.

Until we know the numbers, it's speculation. And even then, paying fair market value does not make Clark Hunt any less "cheap", which was your original supposition regarding that certain "crowd".
I imagined we paid market value and I am just speculating here but I bet we have now one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the NFL. But that wouldn't be the first time, when DV was here we did have the most expensive coaching staff in the NFL.

That can't be true. Clark Hunt is one cheap mofo. You didn't get that memo?
