I got an AARP membership form in the mail the other day.
I'm 46 years old.
What's the deal? Was it a mistake? Did they see my picture and think, like everybody else seems to, that I'm way older than I am?
My wife is 49 and she hasn't gotten a card. So I tend to think it was a mistake, but then again my in-laws lived in a retirement community for a while that would allow people to live there in their late 40s. Maybe AARP is expanding their market?
I was so horrified and disgusted that I tore it up and threw it away. But now I'm starting to regret it. That card would've been worth hotel discounts, movie ticket discounts, and all sorts of other stuff. Plus, people might then think I look young for my age if they think I'm 65.
