A sick Tebow meets with Chiefs, Vikings and Panthers

A sick Tebow meets with Chiefs, Vikings and Panthers

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has met at length with representatives from the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers, according to members of Tebow’s camp.

Tebow is working out this week in Mobile, Ala., as part of the Senior Bowl.

The meeting with Carolina was the most formal, a sit-down session with the coaching staff. New Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis also sat down with Tebow.

All three teams could be looking for a quarterback in the 2010 NFL draft. Minnesota might be without Brett Favre, and Jake Delhomme’s time at Carolina is dwindling.

Tebow battled a 103.5-degree fever last night and has been sick with strep throat since Saturday, brother Robby said. He’s been on IV the last two days and sweated through the entire night on Monday.

His performance Tuesday wasn’t flawless, but it was an improvement over Monday’s fumble-plagued day. Tebow dropped one under-center snap compared to numerous drops the previous day.

Tebow, who wasn’t available for post-practice interviews other than a few comments on the run, threw some nice deep passes Tuesday, connecting with Ole Miss’ Dexter McCluster and Florida’s Riley Cooper 50 yards downfield. The intermediate throws got him in trouble. At least two passes were close to being picked off during 11-on-11 drills.

Tebow said he’s pleased with his day and “just getting used to things a little bit more” before being whisked away by Senior Bowl officials.

Tebow is going to the Jaguars. End of Story. It's the only thing that will keep them in that city.....for a little while longer anyway.

I don't see anything wrong with going into 2010 with Cassel as your #1 and Tebow as your #2 or #3. If Weiss thinks he can work with the guy then give him a year and see if he can transition to an NFL style offense.

The guy obviously can't just walk into the NFL and start in week 1, but he has a lot of character and work ethic, and good physical tools at least in many respects. Let him get in a full year with an NFL team and some intensive work with a QB coach.

Maybe not the right move for the Chiefs, but as much as I hope Cassel succeeds it's not a sure thing. We need to find at least one developmental prospect at QB this year who we can try next if Cassel doesn't work out. Great QBs don't get loose on the free agent market, you have to find or make your own.
Even if you believe that TeBow has a future at QB and you wanted to draft him as a developmental project, it would take a hell of a lot longer than a year to fix the mechanical issues he has, and to teach him to make actual reads.

That's a 3-4 year project at minimum.

I question the validity of this article.
