We actually aren't including perfumes and colognes since they aren't naturally occurring smells, but rather exist only for the purpose of smell and thus have professional status. The Smellympics are only for amateur competitors.

Well, a woman's hair smelling good after a shower is probably due to shampoo, not just because it's her hair. Just sayin'.

Admittedly, there are some fine lines to be drawn. However, the judges ruled that shampoo and stuff has another purpose that overshadows merely smelling good, so therefore shampoo retains its amateur status.

I'm going on record right now that once heats, quarters, and semis are done every option left in the final will be meat/smoke/BBQ related.

That's what I've been thinking. You know, I like women (or since I've been married, one woman), but I don't think women smell all that good raw. That's why they wear perfume and use shampoo like Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific.

This is true. Although, the main reason I use shampoo is to clean my hair, not to make it smell good. That said, I won't use a shampoo unless I like the way it smells.

Off topic, but I wonder if at some point animals will evolve so that their meat smells like ammonia on the barbecue. From a Darwinistic standpoint it seems logical.

There could be a counter-evolutionary force acting here. Critters who taste bad and are not cuddly enough to be seen as pets are more likely to be looked at as pests to be rid of in favor of critters who do taste good, who we allow to live long enough to breed.

Good point. So their flesh should smell like ammonia, but only when cooked, and they should have really big eyes and soft fur.

If you are going to evolve down that road for survival, you'll also need an adorable vocalization and the ability to do tricks.
