It's not either/or. It's both. That's the problem with this place: a complete inability to recognize and understand nuance.

- We are not going to draft a QB in the 1st round if we sign Orton to a new contract.

- Orton will not sign with KC if he is going to be the backup.

Stop suggesting these ridiculous scenarios.

If we sign Orton, he is our starting QB. At best we would draft another QB in the mid/later rounds.

Oh nevermind....i undertand what you meant now. You cant just expect everyone to understand nuance on here with written words. Things get misunderstood in email and written communication all the time unless you clearly define what you are trying to say.

But yea your right....its not either/or, it was both. : )

I'm just as excited as the next guy over the win.
Yes part of a lot of people wanting Orton to sign now is the fact we havent seen a qb in red and gold since Trent.

This is however one hell of a story.
I think its obvious to everyone even my wife that there was NO love lost between the players and Haleys firing.
They all love and support Crennel.
Its also Obvious in the press conferences that theres a reason Crennels respected around the league. Crennel knows the game Crennel loves the game not just this week but always.
Now we toss in our newest QB and he makes what we've watched for the last few yrs look like flag football.
We all knew we had a defense and we all knew our passing game could get going with a legit QB.

As far as adding Orton to the pile with Grbac types I believe Orton though not elite is a touch above the Grbac pile.
I'd like to see as others have said we sign Orton to a couple yrs Draft the highest QB to fall to us or try to trade up for the best we can Stanzi the back up & see waht Crennel can do.
So
Orton/Stanzi/Best draft option I know its what many have said this is not breaking news but I'd be fine with this route.

I think what there is genuine excitement about is the fact that if Orton plays well it spells the end of Cassel. People so desperately want him off the roster, and to shed that 3 year pending commitment, that we are willing to accept Kyle Orton as the QB for at least 2 years because it in the end symbolizes the end of Cassel.

Orton is like the girl you meet out when you're trying to get out of an unhappy marriage. Not great, probably not the best idea, but far better than what you have to deal with at home. Initially, the new girl is the greatest, but after a while, the shine wears off, but at the end of the day, they are still better than what you were hitched to.

Probably somewhat. However, what I personally liked about Orton was that he played the QB position at a high level and that had nothing to do with Cassel and everything to do with Orton. What did anyone see that they didn't like with Orton? He made quick multiple reads, has a legitimate long ball, released the ball quickly and was pretty accurate.
