Money Anybody used carfax?

Just wondering if it's worth it.
For 35 bucks, they better know who nailed the cheerleader in the back seat in '02.

Generally, I have found them to be useful. An acquaintance of mine who failed to pull a CarFax before buying a BMW 3 series found out the hard way that it had been bought back. It was in the shop constantly and he had the damndest time trying to unload the thing.

Although when I was selling my truck, a guy pulled an AutoCheck report, and it showed an accident that CarFax didn't show.

I don't recall the name, but there is some government database you can access that shows everything a Carfax should.

Yeah....we sit around, drink coffee and alter car faxes all the time..........

I used it once. When I looked into a car I was interested in I saw that it was registered in Florida while I'm in IL. I can't remember the details, but it being from Florida concerned me because it was right after there being serious flooding from a hurricane or something. That may sound paranoid, but it all(price, dealer, fax) added up to being fishy to me so I didn't buy it, and I'm glad I looked at the car history.

90% of the time, it's not going to tell you anything that's really all that meaningful. But every once in a while, it could save your ass. It's worth checking at least IMO.
