Um, no. The trade was justified when they made it to the postseason for the first time in 29 years. It became a very good trade when they swept the Angels. When they swept the Orioles, the trade became one of the best trades the Royals ever made.

I hate it when people say other people "owe" them stuff. This team is not only in the playoffs for the first time in 30 years in large part thanks to Shields, it's into the World Series. He could give up 13 runs tonight, and he's still given this city and organization as much success as any player since Brett and Montana retired.

Now, he definitely needs to give us 6 IP, 1 or 2 runs allowed to keep us in the game and give it a shot, but calling him out like this is embarrassing.
