Speaking of trading up, the Muhammad Wilkerson trade rumors are making the rounds. Adam Schein is speculating a trade with Tbay involving Mike Glennon coming back to the Jets has been discussed. I would expect either a 1st round swap of picks or a 2nd rounder accompany Glennon to NY in such a scenario.
Hypothetically, if NY is dead set on getting a 1st rounder this year do the Chiefs ante-up? Let's not get into cap ramifications and DL depth at the moment. If KC somehow has a shot at Wilkerson involving the #28 going back to the Jets do you pursue it? I sure as hell do. |

It made a little sense with Norman, at least there was a big need there. Our DL is far from thin, no need to sacrifice resources and the ability to pay others for possibly one year with Wilkerson, coming off a broken leg week 17. |

I disagree with your estimation that corner is a big need. Dorsey in essence chose J. Howard over S. Smith for a number of reasons like contract investment, age, roster depth and career projection. Howard essentially has a "prove it" bridge deal which will allow him to test FA soon enough, so both parties get the benefit of watching a young motivated player aspire to his next contract. I also think Poe's contract situation will also be delicate depending on how the season goes for him. Although Wilkerson could be a huge cap problem, you hopefully figure out ways to get him on board, and yes this means re-negotiating/extending existing deals (Berry, Smith, Colquitt, etc.) A lot of talk on the board recently speaks to how the window is now and we need immediate contributions from one or two picks to really make a push this season. We can joke about it, but the team is aware too with that motto Reid gave them for this season "It's time". Use your 1st round pick to get a top ten defender in the league. Your line rotation of Wilkerson/Poe/Howard/Bailey/Williams/Nunez-Roches and Ta'amu becomes elite. Worried about pass rush in the absence of Houston and a lacklustre edge rushing class? Counter it with the best D-line in football and Wilkerson coming off a 12 sack season. He knows Sutton and could step in to the system day one and flourish at any position along the front. I get this is likely a pipe dream, but apart from the contract/cap restrictions and matching up with NY's demands, it is an enticing idea. The Jets acquiring our #28 gives them enough ammo to get upto the #7-10 picks in the draft. If they want to ensure they land a Lynch or some other blue chip prospect, they could pull it off. I also trust Dorsey to find secondary talent in the mid rounds. Gaines is proof along with Nelson. Gaines has been frustrating with injuries but there is no doubting his abilities.... |

I just don't think we are one player away and I would be careful to plan for life after Hali, Charles, Smith, and DJ. But otherwise, I'm totally with you. Go get your guy, if you have one. |
