Cowboys keep McCarthy...

Per Schefter...

This just in: Dallas is not making a head-coaching change and Cowboys’ HC Mike McCarthy is returning for the 2024 season, per sources.

Also i do think Jerry realizes that the available big name coach is not going to going to work for him. They want too much control. You can cross off Belichick, Harbaugh...

Absolutely nuts

I wonder how much of this is kyler Murray or Russell where you know you're hamstrung by a limited QB who is also too good to get rid of

They need to acquire some run-stuffing DTs more than they need to hire a new HC, imo.
But we missed a stud in Mazi Smith!!!!

It is a little strange that a team with Hankins and Smith on the line should get pushed around in the run game. I almost wonder if their issue isn't on the edges. The DTs get blamed for bad run defense sometimes when the DEs are getting pushed off the edge to create holes in the B-Gaps. The LBs on Dallas are a bit undersized as well.

I'm not sure DT is really their biggest problem in the run game.

It is funny seeing McCarthys record and playoff record next to John Harbaugh and Tomlin. McCarthy is what he is, but he’s been a punching bag while others get away with the one and dones
Tomlin is bulletproof because he never sucks.

But I've said for a long time that I think he's really just Jeff Fisher with a better publicist. The media is so loathe to say anything bad about him that his seat never gets warm. And the Steelers have had, what, 4 coaches in franchise history or something ridiculous like that? The Rooney's hate change.

Tomlin deserves credit for not playing bad football when he has bad rosters. I'll give him that. But the problem is 'not playing bad football' is pretty much all he did when he had GOOD rosters.

The Steelers haven't been relevant for over a decade and the talent they've had in that time is pretty damn stout. At a point Tomlin should have to answer for that. But he won't.

Tbf, I'm not certain it's the DT's either. Not like I watch a ton of DAL games. However, many times when a team isn't defending the run well, it starts with the DL and the DTs, imo.

And I did see the DAL/ARI tilt this year, and though I didn't spend a lot of time watching their DL, the fact that ARI was gashing them on the ground was surprising. And the Cowboys were getting pushed right off the LoS repeatedly all game.

Maybe that was just that game, I don't know for sure. But it happened to them again vs. GB the other day, and Aikman mentioned it early, and how the DAL DL was too undersized to adequately defend the run during the game, iirc. So, I'd guess that their DL/DTs are at least part of the problem down there.
