it can be really hard to deal with a loved one who has mental health issues, like on the verge of impossible no matter how hard you try.

my wife has bipolar 1 (I stuck my dick in crazy), so she doesn't get the depression, but she gets really really bad mania, which then becomes paranoia and psychosis because she goes days without sleeping. it is pretty manageable because she's very good about taking her meds, so you wouldn't know she had it unless she told you, and she's only had 2 episodes in 20 years. the thing is it's entirely up to the person to stay on their meds, go to their appointments, and manage stress and the things that can trigger problems. but it can take years of therapy to learn how to manage those things and it takes a lot of work and a deep desire to stay mentally healthy.

you can offer to help but there's only so much you can do. my wife's last episode (during covid lol) a lot of her paranoia revolved around me, so she disappeared and wouldn't listen to me so there's nothing I could do to help, as much as I wanted to.
