Who do you think had the best and worst drafts?

Think the Chiefs made out nicely here with a lot of value on day 3 and potentially day 1.

Thought these teams did a really good job:

Panthers-can’t love their draft enough. McMillan and Etienne will help Bryce quickly. Loved that they did go full Falcons and panic giving up assets for a pass rusher. Scourton and Princely were excellent value where they got them and should help their pass rusher this year.

Bears-Loveland and Burden were great picks. Loved Ozzy and Turner. First 4 picks were excellent.

Patriots-first 3 picks were excellent value and should make an immediate impact. Farmer and Wilson were steals where they got them.

Ravens-standard procedure for them. Best team at drafting value.

Cardinals-quietly got some dudes. Nolan, Johnson and Burch were outstanding first 3 picks to me. Rest of their picks were really good value to me and most of them should get playtime quickly.

I thought the Bengals looked like a team with only 4 personnel draft folks. They couldn’t stop the pass last year, benched Taylor-Britt bc he was so bad and still didn’t draft a single DB. Also Shemar Stewart was well known as overrated by many folks.

Also it felt like Denver and Buffalo drafted solely to copy the Eagles. “Find our version of Cooper DeJean” and either build your running game (Denver) or pass rush (Buffalo).

Young needs throwing lanes to even SEE his target. So you're asking him to either blindly trust his guy having body position OR you're asking his guy to not just get open but to get open where there are cracks in the OL so he can SEE that the guy is open.

Or you roll him out to create some of those throwing lanes but now you're cutting off half the field. Maybe that's the idea? If Young is rolling out and only really looking at half the field, maybe a big ol' bully ball WR is worthwhile?

I dunno...I'm just obviously unimpressed by big possession receivers. Have just never had much use for 'em. That might just be a 'me' problem.

They have value in that they can create mismatches, but they have to be able to get open other ways too or they are Kelvin Benjamin. If you get Jamaar Chase, ****, he's amazing. But those are hard to find. And let's be real here, Chase is going to be more productive with Burrow than Young. A guy like Chase can be successful in a WCO, but he's far better having space and time to obliterate fools. And Chase is the best there is at his size. I can't imagine fielding a team full of 6'4 NOT Jamaar Chase's and then telling Young to get the ball out quick.

Their skill positions are put together like they have a 6'4 stand in the pocket guy. Young isn't that.

It seems like you’re focused on one specific type of possession WR and not Tet specifically.

I still remember how most of the CP draft guys didn’t like Drake London because he was big and ran great routes.

Plenty of guys can win with leverage quickly.

I think Harvey was early. By a fair bit. We'll see how it goes but I just don't see anything in there that screams 2nd round RB. He may get some yards by virtue of his OL and opportunity (they obviously needed a RB) but again, that seems like the sort of thing we did with Skyy -- they wanted a RB with that pick, the better ones were gone, so they went with a pure needs pick.

Bryant is just a slug. Won't get open. I thought of him as a 5th round flyer -- if that. In the 3rd round, that's just goofy.

Jones was a nice pick and as you noted, I don't really care much about the rest of them.

I just think there was more damage for them to do than what they actually did. I mean lets say they go with Hampton or Henderson (or Judkins if he's your flavor; isn't really mine) in the 1st and then Trey Amos in the 2nd (or Darien Porter) then Jaylin Noel in the 3rd instead of Pat Bryant. Same positions, better aggregate talent.

I just thought every pick they made, when they made it, was weird.

I didn't think they did nearly as much damage as they could've.

Like you, I also felt they could have done more damage. I am not as surprised they didn't take Henderson as I am that they didn't take Matthew Golden or Derrick Harmon.

I can concede that Harvey is a higher-volume RB, though, and maybe that's where they thought they could get explosive + volume. I think Harvey at 60 was a fine value, though I saw him as a much better player than some did.

I felt like if they wanted a NB, they could have got that guy in the 3rd.

It seems like
1. WR Golden
2. RB Harvey
3. NB Parrish

would have been a much better overall take for them.

Chase is only 6'0" 201 and runs a 4.38. That's a WCO WR build ala Jeremy Maclin, not a big Mike Evans/DeAndre Hopkins build.

Their first rd pick felt like they were trying to copy the Eagles and get their own Cooper DeJean

Seems like they could have gotten a deal done with Chicago for 41 if they put effort into it and got Taylor. They had 51 and 85 to work with. Chicago traded with the Bills who were further down. Granted, they got 56 and 62 plus a 4th but had to give back 72.

Flame me on this if I deserve it, but I have zero idea what the Cowboys were thinking taking Tyler Booker at 11. Yes, Zach Martin retired, and I understand needing to fill that particular hole, but man, that team needs a DESPERATE influx of playmakers at every position across the board, offense and defense. They could have taken literally ANY of the selections after them (minus the other two guards) and it would have made more sense to me than taking Booker. They have CeeDee Lamb on offense and Micah Parsons on defense, and.....I couldn't tell you who else. Get players to help free the two superstars up so they can make plays.

And I don't hate Tyler Booker in any way. He may well end up being a first ballot HoF'er when it's all done, but that pick for that team made me say "WTF?" out loud when they made it. Plus, you'd think Brian Schottenheimer would want to lead with a splash pick to garner a little interest in what he's planning, but maybe that's just me.

They have some really phenomenal players on Defense.... Malik Hooker at S, Daron Bland and Trevon Diggs at CB, Mazi Smith at NT, Osa Odighizuwa at 3T. Those are all guys that seem like relative "household names."

Getting Ezeiruaku and Revel in rounds 2 and 3 were absolute f'n steals, so that helps offset taking an OG in round 1.

The didn't do shit to move the needle on offense though, and that's where it seemed like they needed a splash. They love to run the ball and they signed Javonte Williams as their "lead back?" Then they follow that up by drafting Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah? Hmm. Sure, Blue could end up their next Tony Pollard, if he doesn't fumble his way out of time. That just looks like an atrocious RB room though.

They didn't do shit at WR either, perhaps their single biggest need position on the entire team. They should be thankful for that trade for Pickens because it sure like CeeDee, some hope Tolbert would finally really break out, and nothin.

Well, the Boys made their splash on offense with the Pickens trade. Feels like a pretty solid move for them. I think they should grab up RB Dobbins after his success last season to try and round out that RB room and cap off that offense.

While Booker wasn’t an exciting pick, he might’ve been a smart pick. All seemed confident in him being a day 1 starter and stalwart OL for the next 5 years. Gotta build through the trenches!
