Mark Teahen

Ok, I feel like this will be David Glasses first test to see if he will actually poney up the dough to harbor a good baseball team. Mark Teahen has been about as good as anybody in baseball since he came back from the minors and I feel that he's going to have a great full season next year. I'm getting all excited about him, he could possibly be the next ...
"Mr. Kansas City" himself, George Brett. He's showing power potential, hes showing definite speed and awareness on the basepaths and his defense is catching up finally. This is the next big Carlos Beltran, Johnny Damon type guy that we got, probably going to be demanding a shit ton of money, because he's got the skills for it. So this will be Glasses first test to see if he decides to poney up the dough. I hope to gawd he does, cause Im beginning to love watching Teahen play. Shit he went 4-4 today with a HR, 2 doubles a single and 2 stolen bases. We'd better keep his ass!!!!

Ok, my ranting is done, discuss if you want, or call me dumbass if yuo want to also, it dont matter to me

Well heck, if you read some people on the various Royals message boards, there's a fair number of people that want to trade the guy. I think those people are bat feces crazy, but what do I know. The guy has played like a legitimate All-Star the last 3 months. I'm not sure there's been a better 3B in the entire American League, guys like ARod, Chavez, Blalock are all having down years.

There is no way the Royals trade Teahan. I was at the game tonight. He singlehandedly won that game. His second double should have been a single (it was a groundball up the middle), but great aggressive baserunning turned it into a double. He went on to get a great jump on Cliff Lee and steal third, forcing an errant throw and went home to score the go ahead run. Right now, I think he may the the best ballplayer they have had since Brett--including Beltran. What he may lack in Beltran's talent, he makes up for with saavy play.

Jeffrey Flanagan's article in the Star today mentioned there were "whispers in the Royals organization that Gordon will be the one looking for a new position."

I WILL be buying a Teahan jersey soon!

I think those "whispers" are from concessions vendors as opposed to actual decision makers. (Who else will give Flanagan the time of day?)

Regardless, that jersey is a safe bet. I certainly don't want to trade him. He's our best hitter right now, our best clutch hitter, far and away our best baserunner, etc. His defense at 3rd is still sopradic, but we need his bat and presence somewhere in our lineup, now and in the future.

Other than he's about to hit 40 HR's so his "contract power year" apparently wasn't an aberation.

I'm on the trade him wagon, we need some depth in the farm system plus Gordon rates out as a even better player. I think Teahen is going to be a good player but we still need more quality players to build our team from and I think we can get them out of him.

If this was his FA year and we weren't close to contending, I'd agree. Since we have him for at least 5 or so more years and don't know about our future, trading him seems pretty silly.

I'd keep him and move him to 1b. Gordon is supposedly a better 3b defensively too. Shealy at possible DH? Hope that butler can play LF.

Is anyone else afraid that he will fall back to earth next season? I'm just afraid in spring training next season the magic will have disappeared. That being said, I don't want to trade him.

People who want to trade him are nuts.
He's been absolutely on fire lately. Even if he comes back down he'll still be a good player.

I think we are to the point where we can quit saying he is "on fire". To me, on fire is a two or three week stretch of hot hitting. He has been doing it consistently for nearly three months. When you throw in the last couple months of '05, I think we can start calling him a very good major league hitter.
