Frank Boals reported last night, that Redskins Head coach Marty S.,signed Donnell Bennett already and stated that he wants Kimble Anders on the team,as well.Does Marty know something we don't know?Is Marty setting himself up for failure?Or can he get more out of these players than we could have? How about the Elvis' deal not getting done,yet-it leads me to believe we will either wait until after the deadline to sign Elvis(to free up cap room)or we won't sign Elvis and Marty will. What do think?Go Chiefs!

If this is true, I'm glad Marty isn't our coach anymore...don't get me wrong...I like Anders and Bennett but we all know that neither of them were the answer for us...I wish them both all the luck in the world but if they think they are going to the Skins as starters...I think they have another thing coming...

No doubt that Anders should have played more for us last year...but Gun in his infinite confusion didn't see it that way...will I miss Anders...yes....can I live without him...definitely...mark off a few more $$$ from the cap figure...

I wouldn't worry about EG...he'll be here...and even if he's not...I don't think the Skins can afford him...

My greatest fear is that we won't resign Elvis...I'm an ardent Grbacker...I love the guy and would like to see him here for the next 5 years...but I don't see him going to the Skins...Marty may want him...but the Skins can't afford him and besides...with George, the Skins have their QB...don't forget that even though Brad Johnson is a FA...he still could be signed by the Skins...

And I can't imagine EG wanting to play in the same old stale run, run, run, punt, run, run, pass, punt offense that Marty used here...EG knows that with the new offensive direction the Chiefs are taking...he would be in a QBs heaven...I sincerely believe he wants to stay and I believe he'll be under a new contract this time next week...:D

Big Chief Fan,

In my opinion, the answer is that Marty knows more about football than the rest of us. He got 13 wins out of steve bono, greg hill, sean lachappell, derrick walker, and lake dawson. I think he can get the maximum out of Bennett and Anders.

In defense of Anders and Bennett, getting inconsistant playing time is bad for a runningback. They never get into the flow and get hot. Dont get me wrong, I too dont think much of either one of these guys. But running back by committee really doesnt tell you who can make plays and who cant. The Chiefs have wasted a lot of draft picks on running backs that never get a chance to prove themselves.

Riddle me this, Packfan.

First you say,
Marty knows more about football than the rest of us
Then you say,
But running back by committee really doesnt tell you who can make plays and who cant. The Chiefs have wasted a lot of draft picks on running backs that never get a chance to prove themselves.
It's too early to confuse me like this.

As for Bennett, I don't know exactly why he would be signed, except possibly to replace nearly dearly departed Skip Hicks. However, since they already have Davis, Centers, and Murrell, I'm having a hard time figuring out where Donnell, much less Kimble, will fit into the mix...

As for Elvis...

Who knows at this point?

How could the Skins have signed Donnell? I thought the signing period for free agents didn't start until March 2nd. Could someone explain?

I can easily see why Marty would sign DB. He's a good all-round FULLBACK who can run, block, and catch. He's coming off a down year with injuries, so he'll come cheap. He knows Marty's system. And Larry Centers, Wash. current FULLBACK is getting up in age, and doesn't block that well.
Anybody that thinks Donnell would be part of the RB mix in DC is mistakenly transplanting the Chiefs past onto DC's present.

Ansonsdad,

That's a good question in post #7. However, the Chiefs are reporting on their official website that they officially released Bennett as of yesterday. I'm assuming if he's been released, he can go ahead sign with another team even though FA doesn't start till 3/2. Feel free to correct me if I"m wrong that assumptions.

This would rank pretty high up there in the "What the F" department. I mean Steven Davis led the league in rushing two years ago, Larry Centers, has always been a great pass catcher, and if Donnel signed this soon, he would not have come cheap. Methinks I will wait for more verification.

The Skins site doesn't mention anything...of course they probably wouldn't until it was a done deal...if it turns out to be true...I will say that Marty is a bigger fool then I ever dreamed...RBBC lives...thank god it moved east...:D

You all bring up some good points about the signing date of March 2 and I can't find any info that disputes that, however I did witness Frank Boals On Fox's 10:00 news cast last night and he did say it was a done deal-maybe just not official yet(kinda of like we all knew Donnell was released earlier it just wasn't official yet)That is the only explanation I have for this.Anyway, here's to getting under the cap!Go Chiefs!

Whether Donnell voided his contract or was released, doesn't that just make him an unsigned player/player without contract like the non-names we signed a few weeks ago? Bob Dole thinks there is a distinction between free agent and no contract.
