since Sippio made the 53 man roster (yet was cut a day later) does that mean his 2007 base salary is guaranteed by the team?

That would be a pretty good one day pay for the guy if this is the case.

Nope.

The only thing he receives is whatever signing bonus what placed in the contract.

Now if he makes the practice squad, he gets a fraction of what the NFL Rookie Minimum, which I think is around $270k. I'm pretty sure PS players get less than $100k for the year.

If he were to make the active roster for 3 weeks during the season, he'll be credited with a year of service, which will determine the minimum he can make in future seasons.

Honestly, I don't think they get anything other than a stipend to pay for travel home.
