For Oldtimers: LJ vs Okoye

I was watching the video posted by Nzoner (link here) of the Chiefs rolling the Bills in 1991 at Arrowhead against the SB bound Bills. Okoye was amazing.

Made me wonder - straight up - would you rather have LJ or Christian Okoye?

You young guys will not remember the Nigerian Nightmare - a 260 pound load of muscle, speed and heart.

I will add my all time fave Donnell Bennett to the poll...

I'd have to go with Okoye, damn he was fun to watch, a bulldozer with shoulderpads. I also think he would fit in better with Herm's idea of offense.
I remember Bennet as a good receiver out of the backfield, but I'm not sure that Okoye had thumbs, or fingers for that matter.

The better athlete - LJ

The better Chief - Okoye

I loved watching Okoye run. Say what you want about Marty's offense, but that guy played with heart. Same with Marcus Allen.

But he had a HEART!! LJ runs like a scared little pussy. I laugh at the durable comments about LJ-he has run out of bounds every chance he could get the last 2 years.

I would rank LJ as one of the biggest losers ever on the Chiefs-can't wait til he either pouts and quits or gets traded to the Faders where he belongs.

I'm not LJ's biggest fan right now, but that's a bit over the top.

Okoye faced a LOT more 9 man fronts than LJ and you never heard a peep from him. He continuously punished LBs. He also set up the prettiest play-action fake in the history of the NFL: Steve DeBerg's ball-in-hand deception that resulted in many a completion down the field.

Okoye's hands were pretty good seeing his first experience playing organized football was in college with Azusa Pacific College.

No, he played a different game, he was a human piledriver, no finesse at all, he ran through/over people. I don't remember him breaking any long runs, but I don't remember him losing yards either.
I think the biggest thing was the way he wore down defenses by beating on them with his head and shoulders.

I love Okoye, and he was very entertaining to watch. That said, I think LJ offers more dimensions in terms of receiving and running outside as well as inside. I'd go with LJ for that reason, though I think I'd rather be between LJ and the goal line than Okoye.
