Jose Guillen DFA'd
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Jose Guillen(notes) has been designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals.

The outfielder-designated hitter was signed three years ago to a $36 million, three-year contract that made him the Royals’ highest paid player per year in team history. He was leading the Royals with 62 RBIs and 16 home runs, and he is owed approximately $3.93 million from his $12 million salary this season.

Kansas City is Guillen’s ninth major league stop. The Royals have 10 days to trade or release him.

The Royals also selected the contract of right-hander pitcher Philip Humber(notes) from Triple-A Omaha.

If only there were some sort of a thread in which we could, y'know, compile Royals news like this. If we did have such a thread, I'd bet this would've been posted by now

This deserved it's own thread.

Jose is just misunderstood. Bet in the next two weeks we'll see an article where he trashes KC, the fans, the team, the whole situation, and will blame everybody and everything....except himself...for the losing.

When you get paid $36 million you're supposed to make a difference. He's just been stealing from the Royals, like Gil Meche, and Mike Sweeney, and Juan Gonzalez, etc etc etc etc etc.

If only there was some sort of a poster who wasn't, y'know so uptight about seeing a thread that many people may be interested in without having to dig through thousands of posts, I'd bet they would be a happier person now.

Guillen is an asshole but I don't think you can take that list of players and say they are stealing from the Royals. If the Royals ever had a team around them maybe they would have made a difference. There is not a single player in this league that you could insert instead of one of these guys and he makes any of the teams they play(ed) on a contender.
