Seattle Seahawks Fan WANTS to Sign Running Back Larry Johnson
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...-larry-johnson
Anyone who supports the Seattle Seahawks should be well aware of our pathetic running game. 84.5 YPG, good for 30th in the league. "feature back" Julius Jones has been awful, 27th in the league with 382 yards, and has a 3.6 YPC average. Greg Knapps' scheme is no good, whatever he is doing, it sucks, and no more injury excuses, yes Walter Jones is out, but the rest of the line is healthy. He said it would take half the season for the running game to click, we respond with 55 yards rushing, against the Detroit F'ing Lions! I'm all for pulling a 2007, at 4-4, Holmgren said he would pass us into the playoffs, and so he did. At 3-5, with the tinest amount of playoff hope still alive, and a deep receiving unit, it makes sense, we could air it out 40-50 times a game en route to a more effective offense. Still, the running game has to improve, in 2007, we at least had a former MVP at running back, who ironically, gained more yards in 2007 with that club on then his replacement did in 2008. With an ineffective Julius, and a cut Edge, I would not mind seeing Justin Forsett taking over the lead role. Watching yesterdays game, most of the good running plays were with him at Running Back, coincidence? I don't see a team fighting for their playoff lives handing the running game over to a second year player drafted in the 7th round though. If this team is thinking playoff push, thats a big "if" at this point, the running game needs to be upgraded to at least take a little pressure off of Hasselbeck and the loaded passing game. "Head case" Larry Johnson just got released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Sure, there are negatives to him signing here, or anywhere. He uses the word "pillowbiter" like all of us have done, and wants the ball. 30th ranked running game, or putting up with the fact he called his coach a pillowbiter because his team is 1-7 and he is pissed off they keep losing? I don't think any Seahawks fan should want the former, or care about the latter. Unless you want to watch Julius getting those amazing 3 yards a carry every play. Now that he is out of Kansas City, he's likely going to behave, he got his wish, now he can go elsewhere. Johnson is a Mike Solari product, thats another huge benefit, he knows his Offensive Line schemes, something that should be taken into account. No transition is seamless, but if you know where the blockers are going to be, the rest can't be that hard. What on earth do the Seahawks have to lose by signing him? What other team fighting for their playoff lives has a bigger need at Running Back then the Seahawks? Nothing, and none, which is why the Seahawks should sign Larry Johnson.
