Here's my current take...

R1 - CB/FS Kyle Fuller - Virginia Tech (6'0" 190)
The first comment I'll get is "what the hell are you smoking?" Well, Fuller may well be the most complete defensive back in this class. He's big, he's quick, he's physical, he can play the ball, and he can tackle. That combination isn't one that comes around ever day. The draftnik sites have him rated as a second round prospect, but I have serious reservations about that ranking and how the NFL executives will actually view him. Fuller may be a prospect you can put out as your single high given his incredible tackling ability for a DB. Call me crazy, but I'm beginning to lock on to Fuller as my favorite for the first round.

R3 - OLB/DE Marcus Smith - Louisville (6'3" 251)
It is no secret that Kansas City needs to address the pass rush. Ideally, that would come from the defensive end spot, but I believe Allen Bailey is ready to start and has flashed rush ability in the past. KC is looking at an aging Tamba Hali with a faster growing salary number, so they're going to have to replace him sooner than later. It also wouldn't hurt to have some decent depth. On that note, Marcus Smith developed into one of the best pass rushers in the NCAA in 2013. Smith then capped off his year with a stellar Senior Bowl week where he showcased an outstanding skillset to make the transition to OLB in the pros. Smith shows good intial burst off the line with decent ability to bend the corner, but it could improve. Smith relied more on speed to get to quarterback, so he'll have to develop better hand usage, but the ability is there. I'm most impressed that Smith held up fairly well against the run, and showed the ability to run with tight ends in open space.

R4 - WR T.J. Jones - Notre Dame (6'0" 188)
An sneaky-explosive receiver that can make plays vertically. Looks to be a perfect possession type with great field awareness and body control. Jones possesses top-notch route running ability and is a hands receiver that plucks the ball out of the air most of the time. Jones could develop into a legimate playmaker at the next level with his abilities after the catch. Although WR is one of the most difficult positions to hit on in the draft (second only to QB), the Chiefs need to add an explosive element offensively and may need to take a chance.

R5 - DE Brent Urban - Virginia (6'7" 295)
Urban is a penetrating, powerful defensive tackle/end prospect that can make plays in the backfield and disrupt the quarterback. What is most impressive is Urban's ability to force double-teams because he gets good leverage and has good power. If Urban can learn to fight with his hands and develop a bit more field awareness, the sky is the limit.

R6 - RB Rajion Neal - Tennessee (5'11" 211)
A solid overall back that can carry the ball inside or out and functions well as a receiving back. Neal possesses great vision to find the quick cutback lanes. Neal also runs very compactly and balanced, allowing him to change direction and make dart cuts into the opening hole. The all-around type of player that Andy Reid seems to covet at the position.

R6 - OG Spencer Long - Nebraska (6'5" 320)
A tenacious blocker that can generate movement in the run game and stifle pass rushers. Long moves fairly well to the second level. Long was a second-team All-American in 2012, but tore his knee in what could have been a first-team year in 2013 and missed the season. A team could be handsomely rewarded with a second day talent at a very low price. Long is smart as well, being an Academic All-American with a degree in pre-med biology.

Eh, I'd take it. I don't know enough about Fuller to make an opinion on if he would be a better pick than one of the receivers or pass rushers that will be available at 23.

I like Fuller too, but you are bat shit crazy thinking that spending a first rounder on him is a good thing.

I'd take him in the third round. I had him in one of my first mocks in the fourth round.

He's not shut down, not good enough feet or length to be put on an island and isn't big enough to be a 1 or 2 in Sutton's press cover man scheme.

He's a nickel for the Chiefs and we've got that covered with another VT player at this point.

It's a ballsy, off the wall mock pick though.

What are you talking about (not trying to be a jerk)? He has some of the best feet/hips in this entire draft class. He's one of the quickest CBs in the draft. He's 6'0" and has a 38.5" vertical, so I'd say he can make himself plenty long. He's the best at defending passes between 6 and 20 yards in this entire class. He's also given up the lowest completion percentage of any of the top DBs. 1st could be an overstatement, but 3rd is way too far down. No later than top half of round 2 calibur player and more likely round 1 than not.

Unless one of the top two safeties falls to 23, or Jimmy Ward falls to our 3rd, FS is a position we should be addressing in free agency.

I agree, but I was thinking of bringing in a Nate Allen and drafting a shutdown corner in the 1st like Dennard and then grabbing a pass-rusher in the 3rd such as Jackson Jeffcoat.

Or

Grab Nate Allen, then draft Hageman in the 1st and a cb in the 3rd. I'm not familiar with the CBs who have a 3rd rnd grade at the moment who could make an impact from day one.

Dennard IS NOT a shutdown corner. I wish people would stop saying that. He's good, but he doesn't have elite hips or ability to turn and run.He is a good corner, but he is by no means a clean prospect.

I like him a lot. I think he's a tough guy and he was balls in the Alabama game early in the 2013 season. However, I just don't see the footwork and turn that you are talking about. He's a strong presence against the run and does cover the short field well. He's primarily a nickel in this system.

I think he's going to be a good pro, but I don't think he's as good as what we already have in Flowers and I don't think he'll be playing press coverage on the outside in Sutton's defense where we already have Smith and Cooper.

Like I said, I'd take him in the third. No way in the first round, especially considering the receivers that will be available with the #23 pick. You don't reach on a CB when there is a potential #1 WR for a team that doesn't have anything on the roster behind Bowe, who is coming off his worst season as a pro.

Seems the conventional wisdom is that Fuller is the third best corner after Darqueze Dennard (sp?) and Justin Gilbert. And those two should be gone at 23, so I think it's a good pick. Wouldn't be unhappy with Pryor, Benjamin, Lee, Beckham or Tuitt. Let's just hope they pick a starter with #23. I also see Saccopoo's point on the need for WR. They are deep in this draft, but it'd be nice to have a top flight guy at the #2 WR spot.

I would certainly consider a WR with the first pick Sac, I don't disagree on that. I just think there is great value in that position later on in the draft with guys like Jared Abbrederis, T.J. Jones, Donte Moncrief, Josh Huff, Ryan Grant, and so forth. I don't think this is a draft you have to spend a round one pick on a WR in to get some really good talent. Don't get me wrong, I like Odell Beckham a bunch. I like Jordan Matthews a bunch. If you asked me who the best WR in the entire draft was, I'd tell you Abbrederis. Problem is he has a little history with concussions and it is scary to think he could be Anthony Gonzalez part two.

Defensive back is not an area where I think there is depth in this draft. I think there is talent to be had in rounds one and two, but then there is a severe drop off. I think there will be more late round (6 and 7) gems than there will be any quality in the mid rounds. I'd take chances late on guys like Brock Vereen (FS-Minnesota) and Travis Carrie (CB-Ohio), but I wouldn't go out of my way to take a mid-round player there. Fuller is a guy that is gaining alot of praise. In fact, after posting this I read that Mike Mayock is considering him a first round lock, which is decent praise.

As a note on the argument against the size of Fuller, consider the best CB to ever play in Sutton's defense, Darelle Revis. He's a guy that came in the league at 5'11-1/2" and 204 pounds with 32-3/8" arm length and 9-3/8" hands. At his pro day he ran a 4.38, had a 6.56 3-cone, had a 38" vertical, 125" broad jump, and a 4.08 20-yard shuttle. Comparatively, Fuller comes in at 6'0" 190 lbs with 32-7/8" arms, and 9-3/8" hands, ran a 4.49, had a 6.90 3-cone, had a 38.5" vertical, 128" broad jump, and 4.19 20-yard shuttle. So, aside from Revis being slightly faster, Fuller has the same physical attributes as Revis and could still run faster at his pro day.
