Looks like we'll get to hear how Ty Law is doing...

in the next couple days

Quote:
One final piece of business before Del Rio goes on vacation: Veteran cornerback Ty Law will arrive in Jacksonville this evening for the purpose of a physical exam and a workout that will be conducted tomorrow morning.

“We want to see where he is. We're going to see where he is physically. If he was healthy, we would have interest,” Del Rio said.

Law, one of the game's all-time great cornerbacks, underwent foot surgery last winter for a Lis Franc injury. He is currently auditioning for interested teams. It's unlikely the Jaguars would be willing to spend at a high level for Law, as the team remains impressed with young talent it has competing for the starting right cornerback job.

I hope the Chiefs don't find some way to sign Law, because I may spontaneously burst into flames.

He won't be 100% until October. And it sucks that if we were to sign him, we'd need him more during the first 4 games, because IMO, that's the hardest part of our schedule. So no.

I know, WTF? I've stayed back and read much on this board about how people don't want a Ty Law because of uncertanties, or other good players for that matter. However, people need to wake up and realize that the Chiefs have been a mediocre football club for the last decade because a)we have always sat back and done sh*t in free agency until this year b)the fans are ok with mediocrity, the drafts, etc. Ty Law is a winner, plain and true. An addition like Law to our club would do wonders, and if he is 100% healthy for most the season, even better. Even so, Law limping around on the field is still a far better DB than anyone we have except for Surtain. Warfield would be a great 3rd corner.

Didn't TO's dr. say that he would NOT be ready to play in the super bowl after they surgically repaired his ankle/foot???

If the guy has as much tenacity and will power as TO then I wouldn't count anything from happening.

I will give you Possible ... but not Probable!

Law this, Law that, here's the deal with Law......

A healthy Ty law is a major upgrade providing he can come under the cap. With this being said, a healthy Ty Law is not at this time.

Law will not be 100 % this year, period. When we need him dearly is if Warfield gets suspended, the 1st 4 games...... Law is/will not be ready at that time. Having him healthy for a playoff run is good, but is it a large price to pay for damaged goods, not knowing he will be healthy enough for the playoffs.

We carried Kris Wilson last year thinking playoffs...... Is it worth the price to pay if we have an up and coming CB ?

I agree a healthy Ty Law, Surtain, and Warfield as a # 3 would give us argubly the best defensive back in the NFL along with Knight, Woods and Wesley.

There is a reason he is not signed yet....... Some people here should take notice.

I was under the impression it was not ONLY his foot that was keeping him from getting signed ... but money will be the issue for him.

I couldn't agree more. Most people are discounting the fact that Law won't be ready to help us during Warfield's possible suspension.

This fact completely defeats the purposes of bringing him in.

I really think Carl and DV are going to go with either Beasley or Washington. It should also be interesting to see if we decide to bring in Taylor for a look-see.

As good as Ty Law is, his injury is too big of a concern to just throw money at him and see him ride the pine. No thanks.

I'm all for signing Law.

Most likely, this is the last stand for the offense as we know it. This could be the last season for several dey offensive players. Shields, Roaf, Holmes, Richardson, Green, Kennison... all of them are getting up there in terms of football age. Who knows how many of them bail once the ball starts rolling.

While Law is also on the high side of 30, he could still have three or four good years left in the tank. Having Law and Surtain for a few years at CB would parallel having Hastey (sp) and Carter. Sapp and Hodge would have two great corners to learn the trade from.

Safety seems to be rounding into form with Knight, Wesley and Bartee.

The LB corp appears to be on the way to being a very solid unit with Bell, DJ, Mitchell, Fox, and a couple more potentials in Scanlon and Boomer.

An addition or two to the D-line, and our defense could be what keeps our window of opportunity going long after the offense as we know it has faded away.
