I finally cried

The moment of silence for Lamar at the Seahawks game.

Really got to me.

I missed it... That had to be a touchy moment --- especially for Chief fans watching...

I just walked in the door, and missed it.

I can say, however that after waking up this morning and hearing the news, I was pretty shook up.

I was reading through the sticky thread...then a tribute was played on ESPN at the top of the hour....my wife came in to the office, placed her hands on my shoulder and said "I'm so sorry..."

That's when I lost it.

Keep in mind that this is a woman who knew nothing about Chiefs football until she met me almost 2 years ago. But she knew how much Lamar meant to the NFL and of course to KC.

I had given my tickets to Charity early in the season, with the game being on NYE and me being 3.5 hours away, but I feel it's my duty now to find tickets and pay my respects that day.

My eyes have been welling up all day, all the great stories coming in on the radio all day long. Luckily no real tears yet...

Just tough to really realize what we lost.

I have a friend who might have 1-2 extra tickets if you can't find one...

Same here, Mr. morphius. I can't remember feeling this way about someone I didn't know.

Except maybe John Lennon.

Yeah, if I lived in KC and was able to listen to the radio, I'd been a wreck all day. The all sports station here in STL had a great 10-15 minute interview with Deron Cherry that brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.

No problem... I'm thinking of calling in and going with him... His wife and one of the kids just don't do well during cold games...

He's just always been there. Never knew any different. Guess we kind of took him for granted, figured he'd always be there, like the stadium or something.

The hell with Super Bowls. He was just such a good, good man.

Oh man, me too. And I never met the guy. I wished I could had met him in person, even if it was just once, and simply say "Thank you for brining the Chiefs to Kansas City. Thank you."

He's been a security blanket to this community for so long, I hope we can continue to prove him right.

It's almost like losing a grandfather.

It is weird, as FAX said I don't think I have ever been this choked up about someone I didn't know.

It has been amazing hearing all these stories about him, and yet weird when you hear guys on the radio that knew him and you can just hear them trying to hold back the tears.

I was at work today perusing the websites over different stories and pics of him. My eyes kept welling up. I would minimize the website, go back to it later..repeat.

I kept thinking, what a great man, all he has done, and i have never ever heard mention anything bad about this person. I hope i meet (up there) him one day.
