Musical Perspective Survey

I was having a conversation with a buddy last night about personalities and how they're related to music. It got me thinking and I ended up developing this survey because I thought it would be neat to see how the Music-niks here respond...

Here's the survey, along with my answers to get it started.

Favorite Band/Artist (1960's) - The Band of Gypsies (Jimi Hendrix)

Favorite Band/Artist (1980's) - Joe Satriani

Favorite Album (1990's) - Monster Magnet, "Powertrip"
Favorite Band (1990's) - Radiohead

Favorite Album (2001-2005) - Queens of the Stone Age, "Songs for the Deaf"
Favorite Album of 2006 - Wolfmother, self-titled

Favorite Musical Decade - 1970's

Favorite Album (1960's) - The Doors (1967)
Favorite Band/Artist (1960's) - The Doors

Favorite Album (1970's) - Black Sabbath "We Sold Our Souls For Rock and Roll" (I don't know if it counts since its basically a greatest hits but its the first sabbath album I ever knew so its my pick here)
Favorite Band/Artist (1970's) - Black Sabbath but recent years have seen huge gains in my mind by Lynrd Skynrd as I've come to appreciate the musicianship in that band.

Favorite Album (1980's) - Metallica "Kill 'em All" (1983)
Favorite Band/Artist (1980's) - Metallica

Favorite Album (1990's) - Rage Against the Machine "Rage Against the Machine" (1992)
Favorite Band (1990's) - Tool with special mention to Social Distortion (even though they've been around since the late 70's I discovered them in the 90's with most of the world so I've listed them as such)

Favorite Album (2001-2005) - Tool "Lateralus" (2001)
Favorite Album of 2006 - Tool "10,000 Days"

Favorite Musical Decade - 1990's (While I listed to more hours of music in a day in the 80s the 90s were when I started expanding my horizons and discovering there was more to music than songs at 300+ bpm.
Favorite Band (from that decade, not already listed) - Nine Inch Nails
Song the epitomizes your feelings on that decade - This is hard to really nail down. For now I'll go with RAtM's "Killing in the Name" due to a single repeated line that summed up my feelings at that time. Unlike a lot of people who are angry teens I was a pretty mild teen and turned into an angry 20 something.

This is accomplishing exactly what I thought it would!

Looking at my list, I look like I have ADD. Kinda all over the place.

Archie seems to have an appreciation for experimental or more progressive ideas, with a lean towards the absurd.

Braincase is a guitar-head.

And wilas' list is fairly narrowly focused. Maybe he's a guy that likes what he likes and doesn't have to look around for something better?

Best years of high school were in the 70's. If I were to pick one soneg from the seventies, I'd go with VH "Dance the Night Away". Oh, and I FYP.

With so many other Tull "classics" of the 70's I've only met one other person who even recalls Tull's Heavy Horses.I can't really explain it but there was just something about that project that has me on my 3rd copy from just wearing it out.

BTW,as a prog rock fan have you heard Spock's Beard or Alias Eye?
