Pollard just continues to flat-out amaze me.

My TiVo caught NFL Replay of our game vs. the Browns, so I was watching it while doing some web browsing.

Half-way through the third quarter, Pollard recovered a fumble on a kick return.

I watched the replay in slow slo-motion. As the returner was coming toward him, Pollard was tied up by a blocker. Pollard spun to the outside, peeling off the defender and continued his spin back inside (virtually coming backwards at the returner, now facing the same direction as the returner and then came up on his back as he was slowed by Page) and then stripped the ball out from behind.

But it wasn't in his arms, it kind of floated in front of his chest as he fell, so he got it between one arm and his chest and brought his legs up as he fell. AND fought off the invading arm of a Cleveland player who was falling on top of him.

Friggin' amazing athleticism and focus. Time and time again, he brought in amazing, impossible, big plays like this last year. It's going to be awesome to watch this guy this year.

Good chance he could become the Bob Sanders of this defense.

i am afraid he is all hitter and bad cover guy. THe league is so pansy now that it is almost better just to have a solid tackler that can cover than a guy that can spill guts all over the field but is average at coverage

Here's the thing I like about Pollard. Something that's been surprisingly rare about our starting secondary since the days of Jerome Woods (welcome home, Jerome).

His head is in KC. He's fired up to be a part of this defense. This isn't a pitstop for him, it's his career. I remember the Baltimore game when McNair caught our entire secondary sleeping and nailed some anonymous WR who got behind our defense for an 87-yard TD.

Wesley, Surtain... jogged. They saw the guy take off, and they just gave up when all hope was lost.

Pollard chased him. Wasn't nearly as fast, and probably lost ground to him by the time he got to the endzone, but he chased.

That's a determination for the team that I haven't seen since Priest Holmes' heyday.

I think he's legit. I don't know if he pans out, but I know he's going to ****ing try.

Absolutely bunk. Some of the baddest Pro Bowl safeties in this league can burn your house down with a hit. Don't believe that for a second.

bernard pollard has about 30 pounds and 5 inches on bob sanders. Sanders has quickness that pollard does not, sanders also has a lower center of gravity enabling him to shoot gaps use his hips to shed tacklers.

Bob Sanders' game is savvy, power, and intensity.

Pollard's got two of those in spades, and savvy will come with experience.

Uhhh think of the "baddest saftey in the league?" Ed Reed, not known for his hitting. Known for his ball hawking.

We have a young, budding ballhawk in Jarrad Page.

You don't build a team around one type of player. You need a mixture.

You want a ballhawk FS. You want a SS that can punish over the middle and support the run. That equation's altered a bit in the Cover 2, but that's the essential skeleton of a good secondary.

Ed Reed's a FS. Pollard's going to be our Bob Sanders SS.
