Wow! anyone see that hit on MNF?

A DB from Denver just about ****ing killed Antonio Freeman. The DB caught him full stride in the head. When Freeman landed his arms were locked in this wierd clutching motion(he wasn't holding the football), I was sure he was paralyzed. Thank god he walked off the field.

The Broncos DB's kept high-5in' each other. Seemed thoughtless(but it was a sweet hit, probably illegal).

It was definitely an illegal hit (thus the 15 yard penalty) and Bob Dole's guess is that it will carry a nice little fine.

The jackas$ led with his helmet, knocked a player ga-ga in a preseason game, then stood there and high-fived and laughed about it.

Class act.

Freeman looked fine as he walked off the field, though.

They just said Freeman has a concussion.

Nice to know nothing ever changes in Denver.

That hit definitely knocked Freeman stupid for a while...I aggree with Bob Dole that his pocket will be a little lighter next week.

He deserves a fine and loses all rights to complain when a receiver cut blocks his arse and takes his knee out.....and then laughs.

It was an amazing hit. But I couldn't stand the way Eric Brown took so much enjoyment from the hit while Freeman still couldn't move. There's enough time for high-fiving if/when the guy gets up, but his celebrations were way premature, and were similar to the Philly fans cheering Irvin's injury IMO. I hope the appropriate fine is doubled; one amount for the hit, the second amount to teach him to respect the game and his opponents.

The only good thing about it from my POV is that my g/f who, in fairness to her, is trying to learn and like the game.......now hates the Broncos!!! ;)

My wife (from WI ... thus a Packers fan) went nuts. She used to be pretty ambilalent towards Denver ... now she hates them. :D Her anger wasn't so much the hit, as the classless way in which the Donkey douche bag reacted to it.

There will be a fine. I guarantee it.

I loved the hit. Loved it. First of all, I just love bone-jarring hits, the kind that make me cringe and shout "oh shit!". Second, anytime a pecker gets turned into "cream cheese" it's worth the price of admission, as long as nobody is really hurt...

I hated the behavior after the hit, although the Donko dude did do the classy thing and pat Freeman on his way out of the game (didn't see that until the very end of the game).

Fine? Yep. It was a cheap shot...

Still one hell of a hit though.

I thought it was a BS cheapshot hit (ala Chuck Cecil).

These DB's know exactly what they are doing when they hit a WR, and Brown, without a doubt, led with his head to the players head. Freeman is EXTREMELY lucky that he was able to walk off the field.

While football is a very violent game, certain things have to be policed. That type of hit is one of them, along with chop blocking. Those 2 types of hits can be career ending.

I loved the hit, would have been a thing of art if he hadn't had led with his helmet. I did think it was pretty classless to go around and celebrate it with everyone, but other then the media I think a lot of people know there is not a lot of class in that orginization.

I saw him pat Freeman as he walked off the field when it happened, but still a little late.

Price: about $24,588

<a href="http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2001/0822/1242805.html">8/22/2001, AP</a>

Broncos safety Eric Brown was fined one game's salary Wednesday for a jaw-twisting hit that left Green Bay wide receiver Antonio Freeman lying on the ground as Denver players celebrated around him.

The fine levied by the NFL amounts to about $24,588 -- 1/17th of Brown's base salary.

Freeman suffered a concussion and was sidelined for the second half of Monday night's preseason game. He's unlikely to play Saturday against Miami.

Because league rules are clear about helmet-to-helmet hits, Denver coach Mike Shanahan expected Brown to be fined, but he also planned to talk to NFL disciplinarian Gene Washington about the amount.

"In my opinion, there was no intent at all for Eric to hit the guy in the head," Shanahan said. "He was trying to strip him of the ball, but it doesn't matter what the intent is. The bottom line is, if you hit somebody in the helmet, you're going to get fined."

<a href="http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2001/0822/1242805.html#">More...</a>

Right, Shanarat..."no intent" at all.

Washington ought to tell him to STF up or he'll double the d@mned fine.

Karma?
Denver safety Eric Brown left the game with a concussion after hitting his head trying to tackle Willie Jackson early in the second half.

The injury came just three days after Brown was fined $24,588 for a helmet-to-helmet hit that left Green Bay wide receiver Antonio Freeman with a concussion on Monday night.

"When Eric hit the ground, he was knocked out cold," Shanahan said. "A couple of players told me that he hit the ground snoring. He seems to be better now. He was joking about it in the locker room."
