Omaha Beef gettin' ready to fire up 2010 with some Mizzou players

Some of you may know, I'm the PA announcer for the Omaha Beef indoor football team. The season fires up with an exhibition game on February 20th. Only reason I bring it up is that the Beef have totally revamped their roster, keeping the best players we had from last year and bringing in a bunch of players from the River City Rage (they played out of St. Charles MO). A few Mizzou players of note:

Tony Temple
Joel Clinger
Darnell Terrell
Cornelius "Pig" Brown

This looks like a really good season on the horizon for the Beef. Any of you Omaha Chiefs fans who are going to be in the football doldrums, get some tickets for the Beef and stop by the press box and say hi! I'm the loud SOB on the microphone!

When NFL is over, the Draft is months away, and you need your football fix...check out the Omaha Beef!!

Damn; you've got Brian McNiel (who was fearsome for Nebraska-Omaha) backing up Tony Temple? Nice RBs.

Only two NWMSU players? Ya need more, yo.

Heh. Being a Chiefs fan, I've trained the fans at the Slaughterhouse to scream 'and that run is good for an Omaha Beef "FIRST DOWN!". Somebody suggested that we teach them to say In-Com-Plete on an incompletion from the opposing team...the person who suggested it is now a missing person...

Yes, they have been. Last season they got SCREWED by the league, I personally think the league was tired of them winning the championship every year.

The Beef are like the Chiefs of the 90's. Dominate at home, get to the playoffs every year but one since they started in 2000, and lose the first game in the playoffs almost every time. It's frustrating, but it IS good football.

I like having the Storm in our division. They are the Patriots of the league. Although, this season will be very interesting, the IFL has expanded to 26 teams, so who knows who will be dominating the league.

Looking forward to it. The Beef owners also owned the River City Rage, and they shut down that franchise and moved a bunch of their best players to Omaha. Hopefully that will translate to championships...

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeef!!
I usually make a game or 2 when I'm in town during the season.
One of my best friends is a season ticket holder since the Beefs inception.
On a side note I'm fairly surprised that Pig Brown didn't stick with a team in the NFL.
Wouldn't he of been a rookie this season?

I know he played for the Packers and led the Rage on Defense, so I'm assuming he's been out of college for a couple seasons...I'd have to look it up.

Hey, stop by and say hi if you come to a game. I'll give some props to Alanm from Chiefs Planet...

...I can say whatever I want, I have the microphone. Muahahahahahaaaa!

Wow! How does the league support 26 teams? That's impressive. I made it to a couple of KC Brigade arena league games early on. I thought that league would last, but no.

Well, basically they consolidated with another league. When Arena League folded, the Indoor Football league survived because you can go to a game for 10 bucks or less, so you don't have to spend a bloody fortune. The players don't make a shit ton of money, so payroll is lower. Since it's pretty small, it's a great family environment.

Some players from the IFL have gone to the NFL, but for the most part, people get to watch some local college standouts, which brings them to the games. We had a couple of Huskers and some UNO guys last year. This year is exciting though, with the additions.

The Storm were recently purchased by Todd Tryon who owns a bunch of gyms around town. Hopefully, he isn't as shady as the previous owner who technically broke some rules and cost the team another shot at a championship.

Living in Omaha I have enjoyed several games but it looks like this year as a Tiger fan I have more incentive to come out. Will be there for sure for a few games.

You know, I mean, I want to beat the Storm, but to have what, 6 games forfeited because of some BS technicality just smells bad. I really think the league wanted a new Champion. THis is just my opinion by the way.

They'll have a chance to rebound this year. If the new owner is smart, he won't change anything as far as football ops goes.

We get the Storm on March 6th, our season and home opener...hopefully the Slaughterhouse will be in full throat and we'll kick some Storm arse!
