Mcnabb didn't know NFL games could end in a tie.

I wonder if Andy Reid will get fired....

You pass 60 times against a defense that sucks balls against the run, makes alot of sense to run 14 times total with one of the best backs in the game

Eh, I don't see the big deal. I agree with what Cowherd was saying this morning. He works in radio but he doesn't know all the nitpicky detail rules from the FCC. He knows what words he can not use and that kind of thing but there are details he is not aware of even though that is his field. I am sure Eagle fans prefer McNabb to know about the next opponents defense, not how OT is handled.

This reminds me of Brian Billick during the Chiefs/Saints game questioning why the clock started after the ball was reset after a wideout went out of bounds before the 2 minute warning. He coached a team to a Superbowl and did not know the clock only stopped inside the 2 minute warning. He must've went the same clock management school Herm attended.

I like McNabb, but that's just plain reeruned. Apparently there are a lot of players ignorant of the rule.

From si.com:

The Eagles (5-4-1) now have played 12 OT games, including one in the playoffs, since McNabb joined the team in 1999. Yet, the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback didn't know ties were possible until his desperation pass fell incomplete at the end of the fifth quarter.

"I've never been a part of a tie. I never even knew that was in the rule book," McNabb said after the game. "It's part of the rules, and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game. But unfortunately, with the rules, we settled with a tie."

"I guess we're aware of it now," McNabb said. "In college, there are multiple overtimes, and in high school and Pop Warner. I never knew in the professional ranks it would end that way. I hate to see what would happen in the Super Bowl and in the playoffs."

Uh, they keep playing if it's tied in the playoffs or Super Bowl. But McNabb apparently didn't know that, either.

In his defense, McNabb wasn't the only one oblivious to the rules. Several of his teammates were just as clueless.

"Me and Greg Lewis were discussing it on the sideline, so we asked one of our trainers and he told us it ends in a tie," running back Correll Buckhalter said.

"I found out while we were in OT," rookie wideout DeSean Jackson said.

"I thought we kept playing," linebacker Omar Gaither said.

Where's Andy Reid to clear this up or any coach?

Didn't that rule just start this year or last though?

I'm sorry I don't think the fact that games can end in a win lose or tie is an obscure rule like "what frequency range can you use in amplitude modulation if you are at high altitude?"

They announce this rule at the beginning of every overtime, sever of which McNabb was standing right there. In the NFL standings there is a column for "W"'s "L's" and "T's" which presumably he might have a passing interest in

The whole time he is playing in OT, there is a clock running at 15:00. What did he think was going to happen at the end of the 15 minutes? Why not ask? Even if it were like college OT, there would be some important strategy factors to consider near the end.

I thought it was funny when i first saw his interview yesterday, but i just figured that maybe he wasn't very fast on his feet during press interviews and wasn't thinking. How you can you play Football and not know that a game can end in a tie? That's something you learn as a kid.

I don't think so. I thought the clock has always been started before the last 2 minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half. but now I am second guessing myself....thanks for the complex...I guess I just freakin can't stand bad commentators
