My dogs have fleas

Well, I found a few fleas on my siberian hukies last night. Pulled about four or five off of each. I'd imagine theres 500 eggs on them somewhere. So, today I gave my male a bath in the tub and got him sort of dried off. I then proceeded to pick him up and get him out of the tub because he's scared of getting out. I'm and idiot and lifted with my back and not my legs. I've been pretty much laying on the couch since it happened around four this afternoon.

Pretty sure I pulled some muscles in my lower back or something. I immediately dropped him in the tub and couldn't move. I can barely move off this couch without flipping pain. I had to call my step father to come get my dog out of the tub since he wouldn't jump out. I have to meet my girlfriends parents today too..sucks.

What do you recommend to ease the pain while I'm around them? Antifreeze shots?

Merry x-mas bff's.

I was more referring to my lower back pain.

If the flea baths I'm giving them doesn't take care of it I'll probably go with some stuff my brother was talking about, stuff he gets from the vet.

Get your hands on some Flexeril (sp?) Best muscle relaxant around. Of course you need a Doc's script to get it but if you have some friends......

That truly sucks man.

I have had back pain for the past 3 years or so. Went to many physical therapists without much of luck. Here's my advice to you and I consider myself someone with some experience with disk hernia - I think that's what you have.

Best way to ease this pain for a temporary period of time is to wear a belt - the one they use in weight lifting, try not to bend over much, use those patches where you stick in your back (it burns a little) but it will ease the pain. I don't know what they are called.

Check this brand out, they have good lotion to rub in your back and good patches.

http://www.tigerbalm.com/

-Rest, rest and rest. Any activity that requires effort will only make it worse. Such as lifting objects, bending over, sitting for lengthy periods of time, sitting on hard objects, etc. This however, does not mean that you do not talk nice walks that do not involve going uphills or climbing too many stairwells. Good exercise is a key to overcoming this pain, but you need the right exercise which I will get to soon.

-Maintain a healthy diet (protein and veggies) I notice that when I don't eat good food, my back starts to act funny.

-Here's a trick that my PT told me and it actually works. Whenever you have to bend over, pick something up, get up from chair, etc. Always try to suck in your stomach muscles. They will tighten your back muscles and this will ease the pressure on your disks. Or better yet, use a belt.

-Dress well if you are going to go out in a cold weather. It's something to be aware of.

-Some good exercises that I try to do daily. Try with a few ones and whenever you have pain performing any of them then make sure you stop immediately and do it on a later stage when you have mastered the easy ones. http://www.nismat.org/orthocor/progr...ackex.html#Ex1

-Sign up with a good gym and go exercise there. Sometimes you get bored doing those back pain exercises at home. At a gym, you may have a swimming pool and other activities that may take the rut out of it.

-Buy good comfortable shoes, they may be pricey, but they are a must have for everyone and especially those with back pain.

Sorry for the lengthy reply. I feel you man and it seriously sucks. I hope you get well soon.

I have had the missfortune of 4 ruptured discs and two back surgeries. I lived in agony for about 15 years until I was subscribed Steroid pills. Those pills helped a ton. I can walk without pain and actualy work a 12 hour shift (Yipee !!!).

So, take and learn from my experience if you want. Get in a hot tub and soak. The hotter the better. The tub will give you quick relief but only lasts about an hour or so after you get out of it. Choke down muscle relaxer pills. Flexerile works good but you will need a prescription for it. Do it, get the prescription. After you get the pills...lay flat on your back in bed. Avoid the couch. The couch is bad. Trust me on this...the couch will wreck your spine. It is not designed for sleeping just sitting and it will twist your spine which will force your back muscles to work super hard to try to straighten the spine back out. That again is a bad thing and causes much pain.

If this is your first disc issue you probably have a herniated disc or just pulled back muscles. If you let it heal you will be ok. If you rupture the disc you will experience a level pain that is undescribabley intollerant. It is by far the most horibly intense agony you will EVER be subjected to. Drilling your teech with a power drill doesn't even come close the level of pain that a ruptured disc feels like. The last time I popped L4/L5 I was put on morphine and it still only reduced the pain by about a third as much.

One final note, cars are bad too. Stay out of cars unless you own a mini-van. Those are ok because your legs can bend at the knees allowing you to sit in a natural position. Just remember: "The couch is bad"..."The car is bad"

Good luck and I realy hope you can avoid any further damage to yourself. Please don't let that disc rupture. It will ruin your life.
