Demorrio Williams, tackling machine!

Demorrio Williams-LB-Chiefs Jan. 21 - 2:23 pm et

The Chiefs credited ILB Demorrio Williams with a team-leading 142 tackles, the most by a Chief since Scott Fujita's 151 in 2003.
The NFL credits Williams with 117 combined tackles, which still led the team. Despite the tackle numbers, Williams provided no big-play impact. He didn't record a single interception, forced fumble, or sack while posting just two tackles for a loss. He could be fighting Derrick Johnson for the starting job again next season.

I can't hardly remember him on the field... I was always watching Mays and his hair fly by the ball carriers

He's too small to be a ILB in the 3-4 but I give Demarrio props he played his hardest.

I got a chuckle out of the Chiefs top 10 defensive plays of the season video on their Web site.

DJ was the star in four of them — the 70-yard INT vs Ravens, the Superman sack of Roethlisberger, a monster sack vs. Jamarcus Russell and the two Broncos picks (which they combined into one highlight, so he actually should have been in five of the ten) – and three of them were actually special teams plays (Succop's kick vs. Steelers, Jamaal's KO return for TD vs. Steelers and McGraw's blocked punt.)

Which means the entire rest of the defense combined for a measley three highlights:
- Mike Brown's pick to clinch the Raiders game (which was basically right place, right time, not anything he caused himself)
- Studebaker's long INT
- Tamba Hali's safety to clinch the game vs. the Redskins

Right now I'm in the "Let's be patient and see what happens next year" camp, but admittedly, that's a pretty sad statement as to our defensive playmakers.

Edit: Whoops. I was wrong. They left out DJ's 70-yarder vs. Balt. in favor of Succop's four FGs vs. the Redskins. Wha?? Surely DJ's return should knock Mike Brown's pick out of the list. I guess the Brown pick clinched the Raiders game, but still. Whatever.)
