How do you define the Chiefs Needs? As well as value for those needs in the draft.

I think we have some debate over the Chiefs needs and I would like to get your opinions on those needs. Here are a few needs that I see.

OLB
NT
WR
C
RB
QB

I have heard some people mention G as a need. I don't see G as an immediate need. We have Lilja, Waters and Asamoah.

I have also heard RT and LT mentioned as a need and while these positions have struggled, I don't believe much improvement can be found early in the draft over what we currently have. I don't see this position as an immediate need.

The concern and intrigue that I have with this draft is the lack of value for our needs at 21. I believe we will have the best value by trading up or down. I really like the idea of trading with the skins at 10 or Vikes at 12, both of whom may be in the market for a QB at 21. Skins could use Locker's mobility and Mallett might fit well throwing deep to Rice off a play fake to AP. The idea of a skill group consisting of Bowe, Julio Jones, McCluster, Moeaki and Charles excites me. I also think that Jones is a huge improvement over our current #2 WR and fits our offense well.

But trading down with someone like Cincy, who may also target a QB at 21 could also be beneficial and add value by selecting the best OLB available.

I don't like the value of the following positions at 21.

OLB
NT
WR
C (unless you believe that Pouncey can learn how to snap the ball)

So that leaves RB and QB. And I don't like Ingram at 21. If the Chiefs can't trade out of 21, I really don't know what the best option would be.

I think Center is our most important need. As long as Cassel it the QB, we'll be a running team. Hard to be a legit running team with no C.

I can definitely see that. Do you like Pouncey? Think he can be taught to snap?

I kind of like the move up to #10 if Julio Jones is still on the board. Probably would cost us our #55 pick to do that, but most of the other needs could be addressed with the remaining picks.

QB is the most important need by far. But lets pretend that Cassel can play like he did against the Seahawks last year for most of the year.

1. NT - key to 3-4 defense
2. C - need someone to anchor the middle of the line. Raiders and Ravens raped us the middle thus collapsing the whole line
3. WR - we have nothing after Bowe
4. OLB - Vrabel's spot, Studebacker can man it but would feel better if he is our 3rd LB not a starter
5. RT - BRich played decently, personally I think a better OL coach would make the difference but we promoted Muir to OC so no dice

WR, C, NT, OLB all equal in the "dire need" category.

Secondary need - MLB, #3 WR, RT, backup QB, TE, LDE, backup S.

I'd say WR, NT and C. In a perfect world, OLB is going to come from Studebaker or Sheffield (who's essentially going to be an extra draft pick heading into TC...).

I don't like the idea of moving up. We're not one or two players away. We're another whole offseason away.

I'd actually love to see a QB pick, but I know the odds of that are some multiple of zero.

I could argue the order of 2-4, but ultimately, you're right regarding the QB position.

Winning the Super Bowl is hard enough even if you DO have an elite QB. There are several solid teams that fall short every year.

Trying to win with lessor talent at the most important position is like hoping to win the lottery. Someone may do it, but the likelihood of it being you are slim.

An elite QB makes this team an instant contender, IMO, even with the holes we have. Until we get one, expect more "wait until next year" every January.

I think NT is the most important need, but that doesn't mean I think you draft one in the first round. If we had a domminating nose tackle, everyone on our defense would look better.

We are pretty much becoming the Ravens of the 2000's. Lots of talented players but lacking at the one important one.

Unless Hali was getting to the QB, the rush was horrid. There was a NOBODY on the other side of the field besides Bowe, and Edwards and Weigmann need upgrading.
