I'm not overly impressed with this draft class but I also don't know much about any of them outside Fisher.

I've learned one thing about drafts and that is wo wait and see. We all, as well as all the "draft experts" thought we had an AWESOME draft when we drafted Dorsey and Albert - turned out not to be all that after all...

I agree more or less. The third rounders were puzzling, but we do need a TE because Fasano is just a guy. Knile Davis is not what you'd expect to get for a third even if its just a sandwich pick. I don't mind them passing on Barkley because we have Bray to experiment with, but why not do better than Davis here?
The others all sound like good picks |

It was a safe and boring draft. No game changers, only depth. Fisher will likely (hopefully) be a great starter for us for a number of years, but outside of that, meh.
Left tackles and tight ends don't win Super Bowls, unfortunately. |

I remember not knowing shit about Carr. So I read up on him and watched whatever footage I could find. I remember thinking, "Damn, this guy could be pretty good." Same deal as Jared Allen.
I've literally felt that way about every single one of these picks (except the center). I hope that trend continues.

I'm not sure how anyone could think TE wasn't a need. Moeaki can't be relied on and Fasano is JAG. The Chiefs traded two premium picks for a QB that throws primarily to the TE and the Chiefs needed to give him more targets.
Before the draft, I was hoping that they could trade down a couple of times and then take Eifert (assuming they weren't going QB). |

I think sanders commings travis kelce and nico johnson are all day one starters. Obviously eric fisher will be as well. 4 picks out of the 8 are day one starters and 3 of them were 3rd round or later. I think thats a damn good draft.you guys need to give them a chance.

The simple fact is tight end AND running back are both a need. Jamaal Charles is Jamaal Charles, but as sad as it is, we have to remember that RB is one of the most short-lived careers in the NFL. Without saying Jamaal is injury prone, he has already sustained a season-ending injury. That just shows you that even durable running backs need to have depth. And not just "guy off the street" depth.
Tony Moeaki is no different from Jon Baldwin. One spectacular catch his rookie season. He's done jack squat ever since. Now, they both shared a common hindrance - Matt Cassel - so who knows what happens now? But Moeaki can't stay on the damn field. Honestly (and I despise saying this) the biggest draft pick up was Alex Smith. I know, I know... we could have waited and got him for free AND drafted Geno in the second. But at the end of the day, let's please not forget just how atrocious watching Matt Cassel attempt to play quarterback was. We literally haven't been a competent NFL team for two years. I don't believe Alex Smith will win us a playoff game (maybe one if we're lucky), but that said, I think he is light years beyond Matt Cassel. FFS, we had people clamoring for Kyle Orton to be our starter going forward. That's how bad Cassel was. So, yes... Alex Smith should have a huge impact on this team, if for no other reason, because he will allow players like Moeaki, Baldwin, Charles, Kelce, Bowe, Avery, and Fasano to at least develop and be properly evaluated. With solid QB play, we can actually see who is worth a damn and who needs to hit the road. I'm not exactly optimistic about the team, but I think I understand what the goal of this offseason was - rescue this franchise from the dregs and make it competitive again. |
