Why don't any professional gamblers run the Hootie system???

I was thinking about this because of how much I hate our current gambling scheme. Loathe it. And maybe I'm partial to it because it was the greatest financial hope that ChiefsPlanet ever had, but I was looking at someposts from that thread, as well as looking up some stats, and I honestly can't believe no one will try this again.

The one thing that stood out to me was that while ChiefsPlanet lost all of the money, they were always way up there in passion. That combination, alone, would make you think someone would want to build a gambling system around Hooties' ideas.

Anyway, I look forward to more shitty over under bets and , trying to beat the spread on a lone bet, and doing a couple of parlay cards by myself instead of doing what Hootie would do and use our collective money to make us all rich...

Are you referring to the daily fantasy football thing? I'm sure there are a few "professionals " that pool $$$ and enter multiple contests. Outside of that, I'm not sure how much better off you would be in terms of straight betting games if you pooled $$$. Parlays are generally considered extremely hard to hit(hence the juicy payouts)so I'm sure Vegas would love multiple people to pool $$$ on parlays with the thingking that "well surely between the 3 of us(or however many)we're bound to hit a couple parlays"

I used to bet $50 pars fairly often. They paid 13/5 IIRC and it is pretty exciting sweating the second half after hitting the first half.

Thanks to Dart for the fun we have on here saving me money.

I have no idea what the Hootie deal is about as I didn't follow it at all.

A good bettor doesn't need the opinion of dozens of other people nor do they need the financial backing that comes from them.

I'd rather follow the Biff Tanner plan.

Well, the point of the article I posted (and numerous others), is that these sites are controlled by a few whales who have tens or hundreds of thousands out there, and are using scripts and brute force attacking of the system to swallow up average players, who in the long run have no chance. One person's supposed 1%er football acumen is not a primary success factor.

In contrast to online poker, which is a mix of luck and strategy, where a highly skilled person could have perhaps over time feasted on the minnows enough to make money - daily fantasy is controlled by a small number of huge players who in many cases are using scripting and advanced statistical analysis to control the market.

It's not unlike Joe Average setting up an ETrade account and day trading based on less than 1% of the information and .0000001% of the resources that industry professionals compile and analyze electronically and use. They might ride luck for a while, but in the end the house always wins.

He displayed all the hallmarks of a deep gambling addiction, including stealing others' money to play his own strategies, chasing losses to many times the original loss, always asserting that he was 'this close' to hitting it big or that he's really got things figure out now. It was fun to joke around about at first but the guy has real problems that really are no laughing matter.

That may all be true. And everyone knows the issues I have with the guy, but he didn't "steal" anyone's money in the fan duel thing.

I was speaking more to regular betting, not the daily fantasy which I am well aware is completely stacked against most players and I'm not really convinced there isn't cheating involved as well.
