Some assumptions:
1. Gaither takes over RT duties from Richardson, but Albert plays well enough to keep his job. Gaither holds his duties down very well. 2. The Chiefs sign Gaither, Pope, and McClain to another one-year contract. 3. The Chiefs lose: Tyler Palko, Thomas Jones, Casey Wiegmann, and Kelly Gregg. 4. Bowe gets PAID. Carr and Flowers both get PAID. 5. Moeaki and Siler both return healthy and ready to play. 6. Cassel plays decently enough through a meandering 8-8 season. 25 TDs, 10 INTs. He faces a make-or-break year in 2012. Let the games begin. 1. RB Trent Richardson, Alabama What could a better pick in the middle of the 1st could there be? OLB is locked down by Houston and Hali, we've got three good WRs (assuming Baldwin comes along) and McCluster's apparently a factor downfield, now. The value isn't at RT in the middle of the first, and Pioli isn't going to take a QB. 2. NT Dontari Poe, Memphis A reach perhaps, and out of character for Scott Pioli, who prefers big schoolers at all times. But the nose tackle waters are getting thinner and thinner, and going into the season with Powe as your only serious nose tackle won't do. Poe adds a huge body for goal line formats, and can provide some great depth. 3. OT/G Tanner Hawkinson, Kansas Hawkinson is tailor-made for the zone blocking system. He will need a season or two in an NFL strength-and-conditioning program, but he seems to have long arms and excels in pass protection. He can switch in to guard, too, which will be desperately needed in 2012. 4. WR Jarrett Boykin, Virginia Tech I really don't like the offense Boykin plays in, and I think it suppresses us from seeing him as a reliable receiver with great quickness and reliable hands. The WR corps needs depth, and we need another receiver should the Chiefs want to feature smaller, quicker packages with Breaston and McCluster to compliment the huge WR packages with Bowe, Baldwin, and Moeaki. 5. OG/C Moe Petrus, Connecticut An underrated center for the Huskies, he played a season at guard before wrecking shit for Jordan Todman the past couple years at center. Again, depth is needed along the offensive line. 6. SS Harrison Smith, Notre Dame It's been two seasons and the Chiefs still don't have a viable guy to spell Eric Berry. Hopefully that will change with Smith, a guy who's done next to nothing before exploding last year with 7 interceptions. Like almost all ND players, he's smart with high character, and features 4.5 speed. 7. QB Stephen Garcia, South Carolina A game manager from the SEC playing in what has become a big time program over the past couple of years. Pioli takes a flyer. |

As I said in draftplanet. I don't like it. You didn't go:
1. ILB 2. OT 3. TE |

Wow, if you get any of these right I will be surprised.
Not doubting your abilities or knowledge, just so far away and so much can happen. |

I would personally cream my pants if cassel goes 25-10 this season....especially if he misses a game or two.
As for the rest, I have no clue...would be cool to draft a bad ass RB 1st tho.. I hope you get alot of shit right....So I AM POSTING IN EPIC NOSTRADAMUS THREAD

You're just trying for attention and the surprise factor with the 1st pick. It simply isn't gonna happen. RBBC is fine...when you don't have a top 5 back. Richardson or anyone else isn't a load-helper, they're a carry-stealer. A nice bruiser in the 4th or even 3rd would be fine; a 250+ carry back in the 1st is way overkill.

I actually like Trent Richardson in the first... I might rather get a Vontaze Burfict or Te'o though. Little more value.

You just did an entire mock draft where you don't anticipate a single pick to start for an 8-8 team.

I explained my reasoning. We already have two 1sts invested in WRs and paid money for Breaston with McCluster developing there. We also have a starting caliber OLB in Houston, deserving of a season to prove himself. And we're not going to invest two 1sts at the safety position. RT is not worth a first round pick (although I'm sure Pioli is targeting Riley Reiff as we speak), and there are not 1st round NT prospects that I can see. Who would you have selected? |
